I am checking for a Friend what is the criteria to get the prestigious Prime Minister Book Prize Award which is given to about 10 outstanding bilingual pupils who completed PSLE and based on the Eng/ MT results and/or based on overall results? Can anyone help to answer? This award seems to require teacher’s nomination to submit to MOE. How does this work ? Anyone can shed some light ?

Long ago, pupils were given the award on the basis of performance in their first and second languages as well as good overall performance in the examination, meaning PSLE, GCE O Level, GCE A level results must be good. Guess it's no diff now.
PM Book Prize isn't for writers only. The awardees could be bilingual debaters or orators who have won top prizes in oratorical or story-telling competitions as well. They most probably have also won numerous essay writing competitions, or scored distinction in NSW writing competitions, for instance. One awardee even published a book and contributed part of the money collected from the sales of his book to his school. It'd be good if your friend is a volunteer at some charity organisations, a student leader (e.g. prefect, student councillor or CCA president), or a language elective scholar.
If I'm not wrong, candidates are nominated by their language teachers. -

each school allowed to nominate only one outstanding candidate, for the Prime Minister Book prize ?
But this PM book prize, is it for each primary school, or for a defined cluster-zone of schools, only ?
cannot be based on per school basis. If is for per school, there are Total > 100+ primary schools in Sg, then you’ll be seeing > 100+ PM prize recipients !
In Gep schools, usually the winner is
a Gep student
sembgal,
u mentioned this PM book prize given to 10 outstanding biingual students, after complete psle ? So, there is a selection committee panel that pick students, go by zonal schools’ cluster ? -

Ginseng supplements or ginseng slices also can. I know some kids bring along to school daily and will take some whenever they feel exhausted.Estéema:
Chicken essence in bottles lasts only for 3 hours to keep u alert. It's also hot chemicals. Best homemade chicken soup.
yup...it only lasts for a short period...it's that extra burst of alertness.
I did share earlier my friend gave her son 2 bottles. he drank more bottle in the morning and he was done with his math paper 1, he was already drained. during the break, he drank 2nd bottle for paper 2.
Alternatively, just buy a cup of hot water and drop it in. Or bring the drink to school in a thermos flask. -
Yes, agree with Cool tt ginseng works & its natural.
Only thing primary sch kids usually do not like the strong taste. Hard to force them too esp u need them to maintain a good mood to tackle exams. But if the child had been accustomed to take it earlier (e.g. fr P5) maybe by P6 will not complain of the taste. -

You are right about the taste. I give it to them in supplement (tablet) form. Mid-week. Sometimes, I give an additional dose and change it to Monday and Thursday depending on the hecticness.Yes, agree with Cool tt ginseng works & its natural.

It is easier when they are older and realise that this is a quick win and their friends are also taking this, anti-oxidants, gingko, walnuts ....

mum asked me to boil a cup of hot water, drop in a few slices of ginseng and add a little salt...then put in their water bottles to bring to school the next day. it would be better if the ginseng is eaten as well.

Not too sure if there's a limit. They are usually from the same old top schools and awardees are 90% girls (for pri category). You only start to see male awardees in the sec / JC categories.
How many candidates can each school nominate? Any limit imposed??
They won't give all to EL-CL talents. There'll be one to two ML-EL, TL-EL or Trilingual (EL-CL-ML/TL) awardees among the finalists. -
Hi everyone, can I check whether is the use of highlighters allowed during the Psle exam?
As far as i know, o levels cannot use the highlighter at the cover page. How about Psle exam?
