      I wanna know:
Actually just wondering if PSLE papers are tend to set difficult? I went through some of the past years paper and feel it's not easy, even for the Chinese paper which she usually get an A (71-76/90) in school. Her Psle past year paper only get 62-63/90 range. Yet, the quality(A/A*) pass last year is 68+% which is impossible based on raw score. Guess the moderation plays a heavy part. Hence I told her don't worry if you find any of the paper tough as moderation is in place. I think we should encourage our child to not worry about not able to do some qn if psle is really meant to be a little tougher. This will give them confidence to move on to another paper. 🙂

Yes agreed no point to ponder over it.

But I will need to worry when comes year 2021 :faint: at that time then start to worry.

Thanks for your explanation. We should consider lucky then. Under 2021 new psle system, the raw score will be taken and 45-64 range is so big. It's not easy to score 65 and above for an average student if the paper is still as tough. Quite unfair to be put on par with another who score 45 while this student score 64.

T score grading is tough...but if compared to AL grading, the latter is many times more terrible!
the band is just too wide. I'm just so relieved my kids are done with PSLE.
a subject which is set tough now...under t score, it's moderated. under AL, it's a subject score on its own. correct me if I'm wrong.
as it is, putting 11+/12 year old through such intense grading is making life very stressful.

Agree! There is fine differentiation among grades above 75 but it doesn't encourage those who are doing average to do better. For example, my girl is weak in her math. Sa1 scoring 55.5, prelim score 63. We were happy about her improvement. Under new system, her improvement doesn't bring any difference.

          bestwishes:

Instead of reducing stress, more stress is added!
Same for science, no 1/2 m but request a lot, missing 1 key point, no 1/2 m then get zero more easily! 😞
that 2 marks for one OE question is so hard to get. have to explain and write so much to get 2 marks.

OT...even at sec 2, scoring for science is just as tough. Experiment A (1mark). Briefly describe the reason (3 marks).

Forget about English paper now, just move on to the next subject. What have been done can not be changed. I’d rather not be talk about the paper anymore and focus on the next one. Don’t let the kids feel that they didn’t do well in the paper.

All the best to all P6 students! A few more days to go, Jia you!

                    correct, English already over.

                    focus on Maths, tomorrow Friday.
Maths is something where your mind need to stay alert, sharp, focussed, accurate, think fast, in order to tackle Problem sums. Cannot afford to have a dull mind, sleepy brain. Sleep early tonight.

talking about no 1/2 marks for Science. I noticed 2 teachers in XXXX school actually gave 1/2 marks for 1 mark qs in Science. I was :? Can meh?

It depends on the question in context. If yes, no answer and requires explanation, the child can’t explain , awarded 0 marks.
If key words are used and did not write complete answer, get half of the marks depending on point written. Write extra answer that is incorrect will also result in marks being deducted. Write too long may not necessarily get more marks. Make sure the correct answer is written.
