I am wondering in P6, should we still buy assessment books or just do top school papers? I realise most of the time, the assessment books are left untouched.

Top school papers definitely. Some assessment book authors have unrealistic standards and marking. Very different from what MOE expects.

You can also try checking with your child's teachers for book recommendations. Although they aren't supposed to encourage it, they will sometimes be able to recommend which books are more \"realistic\".

As some of the parents enquired about the schools of the interested participants in their PMs to me (probably to decide which session to opt for?), I thought there's no harm listing them out since no names are shown 🙂

                  Hi chenlaoshi,

Yes, i find above brown book very useful, for Normal Chinese. Many students in my kid's school also using this brown book 🙂

I didn't use blue book (the 2nd image, below the 1st brown book), because brown book is enough, to me.

Yup, the brown one is very comprehensive and useful for both revision and/or 'drilling'. I like the way they cater for topical practices for all type of MCQ questions that are tested in the 15 MCQ questions:
                    - 选择音节
                    - 辨字测验
                    - 词语选择
                    - 词语意思选择
                    - 连词选择
                    - 完成句子
                    - 句子选择

There are P5 (topical) and PSLE (mixed P4-6) ones available too.

Likewise, there's also 2 other books from this series tailored for practicing for HCL Paper 2's 1st 2 sections -->

Which HCL assessment books will you recommend to practise the full paper (1st 2 sections + comprehensions)?

                      Thank you.

Thank you mylulaoshi. Fully agree that some assessment books have unrealistic standard.

By the way, I find that the new syllabus Chinese (current year P4) is more difficult and the words in the textbook are so small and kind of messy. MOE should have just maintained the existing syllabus. It is also difficult to get the updated assessment books. Top school papers from previous years are also irrelevant. What is the best way to revise Chinese for 2020 batch (born 2008)?
