Just to share. I ever wrote in to moe to enquire and the email reply was :

“Each school, however, in the selection of pupils for E2K have full autonomy to decide on the final selection criteria as it works within its context and resource considerations.

In implementing E2K Science, schools have the autonomy to choose the topics and experiments to include within a year. These topics are not in the MOE Primary Science syllabus, in part or whole, as the focus is on the inquiry process.”

Hence, selection criteria for e2k maths and science is set by school itself and varies across schools. It is best to check with your school’s HOD on the criteria and the list of experiments that would be done if you are interested.

Hi, thanks for ur sharing! Can i just ask.. how well is the 'pretty well in their P3 overall Sci & P4 SA1'?
I can say they are all top in Science as in top 20 scorers overall (meaning sa1 and sa2 combined in P3) and P4 SA1 results.
For DD sch, the E2k Maths selection is based on GEP round 2 Maths paper results in P3 so all kids in E2k maths got through to GEP round 2 but didnt get into GEP.

But thats is just DD sch, every school has their own criteria.. so best is check with your HOD on this..

Hello ! I am in need of some help . My dd is invited for e2k science but it clashes with her cca and she has to give up her current cca. I know e2k is considered a cca in her pri sch but just wondering if there is an equivalent club in secondary sch? Since many ccas in sec sch are admiting based on previous cca . I am just worried she will not be able to join any cca in sec sch which seems to be crucial for future admission to jc uni etc

E2K Science only found in primary school. There is no E2k Science programme in Secondary school.

In Secondary schools, under Cca, there may be "Science" Club, or "Maths and Science Club / Society cca" that one can join.
But got nothing to do with any E2k Science unique special designed curriculum, inside these "Science" Club cca.

E2k Science programme : only selective students hand-picked by your primary school’s subject class Science Teacher, can join, for High-ability Science students. Some primary schools start E2k Science programme in P4, while other schools start E2k Science in P5, continued all the way up to P6. But only to selective pupils, if you are attending Mainstream primary schools.
For GEP students, however, it will be covered, built inside their (P4 to P6) GEP Science curriculum.

Anyway, E2k Science curriculum, is only found (available) in Primary schools. Nothing to do with Secondary

In Secondary schools, it is something else called "Junior Science Olympaid", for Lower Secondary.
Come Upper Sec, they will break into "Physics" / "Chemistry" / "Biology" Olympaid, specialized competition category.

However, not all Secondary schools in Singapore participate in Olympaid.
Only some Sec schools still remain to participate, while other schools which in the past used to participate actively, had withdrawn from Olympaid competition, in recent years.

Apart from some competitive sports and performing arts, most CCAs have no pre-requisite or served as a continuation in secondary schools.

A short answer is-it might affect, if u are looking at continuing a particular cca and to DSA…

eg. band - best is to follow through pri to sec if u want a particular expertise in the instrument and have interest to do so even at JC level.

but having said these, there are students who join totally different ccas at pri n sec level.

i know of a friend’s dd… joined band in pri but didn’t wana continue at sec… so joined robotics where she had a new found interest even though the sec sch had band cca.

If u are looking to DSA, will be good to look at sec schs who offer DSA through sciences… im not sure of the list, but i know like Catholic High offered my other friend’s DS DSA confirmed offer through science while he had no E2K experiences in pri sch.

ultimately, i think the child just needs to exhibit the interest n aptitude when u get into the sec sch or wana apply dsa to the sch

not true... even for competitive cca, if the child exhibits aptitude n interest, they will allow to join too.

that is what the CCA open house for students are for. most schs, i believe have open house for CCAs for students to try out n decide after registration day. if ur child is truly keen, can always approach the respective teacher for a placing.

Schools do not allow pupils to bring home any E2K Science worksheets.

Only students know what they had done in lab, during experiment time. You may ask your daughter, what she had learnt in E2k Science lesson next year, since she had been selected for this programme
