Yes, you are right. I didn't take into consideration a student with HCL.
DHS higher COP is because the student can use the HCL points. So if let's say dhs cut off is 256 while cedar is 254. The student with 253 and a distinction in hcl can get into DHS but cannot get into cedar since cedar doesn't take the HCL points into account:) So it is erroneous to say if can't get into cedar, unlikely to get into DHS.floppy:
DHS traditionally has a higher COP than CGSS. Putting it after CGSS is kinda meaningless since if you get CGSS, DHS is redundant; if you don't get CGSS, you are unlikely to get DHS as well.
You should consider SCGS as your no. 3 choice after DHS/CGSS.
Therefore:
1. DHS
2. CGSS
3. SCGS
4. TJC
5. Cedar O
6. NCHS
4 IP choices out of 6 (with 2 of them nearly bao jiak) is not considered 'limited choices' for IP stream :scratchhead:
In such case, CGSS would come before DHS and DHS would become the fall-back option. -

Hi,People should get over this 'safe' 'not safe' 'wasted' idea of making your choices.
It is posting based on their detailed aggregate scores in the PSLE that extend to decimal points.
Merit comes before choices.
This article should be a 'readme first':
https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/how-secondary-school-posting-is-done
The article doesn’t clearly specify if they are describing the old or new system. Hence the confusion for newbies like me. Different people suggest different things. Some say that it is based on the choices order. So, I would like to get advice from this forum before we make an irrevocable change.
Many thanks! -
Dear All, I know this will not have answer till 19/12/18, but can your share with your prediction with your school scoring, any prediction whether COP will remain, decrease or increase for this year ?

\"But the new system will take effect only in 2021. Until then, the old scoring system applies. Pupils go to the secondary school of their choice based on their aggregate score in the PSLE.\"
I know our media is ranked 154th and occasionally promotes fake news by the Government, but in this case, they are quite clear and accurate. -

It depends.
The most popular schools, i.e. COP > 240, are most likely to remain the same. If they do change, wouldn't be more than + - 2 points.
Schools with COP between 200 and 220 tend to see greater fluctuations. -

https://www.moe.gov.sg/education/edusave/edusave-scholarships-for-independent-schools-%28esis%29:
2.1 The ESIS are awarded to Singaporean students who are in the top one-third of the total number of Secondary 1 students admitted to all IS, based on PSLE results (before bonus points).
2.2 It is also awarded to Primary 6 Gifted Education Programme (GEP) Singaporean students who meet the P6 GEP promotion criteria and are enrolled in the Integrated Programme (IP) of an IS at S1.
You won't get the ESIS if you choose the O Level track. -
I need some advice , my kid cut off point is in between. Most of the choices in my neighbourhood have quite high cut offs.
What is the variant for entry into a school? Eg the cut off point is 235, my boy got 3-5 points less, should I even try as 1st choice? School is next door to my home.
Does it make sense to choose a school outside of my neighbourhood just because it is a safe bet? (based on cut off point t-score, son meets and should have no problem getting in)
really at a loss and not sure what to do. -

So if your dd is gep she doesn’t need 260 to qualify for ESIS this year
