erm ... , there are 2 groups of parents out hereMP
Absolutely nothing wrong with O level track.
one group .... do Not look down on the O-level students
another group .... either the parents, or their children themselves, kind of, or in a way, to some extent, do look down on students taking O-level, somewhat.
Their mentality is, \"if you are good, should go to a pure IP school. What for, go to one, that offer emergency O-level track, on standby ? \".
Advice to this 2nd group of parents (P6xers or Secondary school students) is, don't look down on O-level students, too soon.
Even though your child may be currently studying or going to study inside a pure IP school ... but the road 6 years ahead in IP is uncertain, still very far, very long ahead. Just don't end up as a casualty yourself, in such a pure IP school.

Go O level route will get looked down upon? Really? Aiyoh, my poor kids.
No wonder kids still end up crying when their PSLE scores are, in my opinion, awesome. All because they cannot make it into an IP school?
I felt so heartbroken when I saw one of my ex-student looking so despondent after getting his results. I was there with my sis to collect nephew’s results. He scored pretty well. Just a couple of points shy of the cut off of the school that he was aiming for. It did not help that his parents were looking all solemn and disappointed as well. And the only one consoling the boy was his little brother. -

no offence to anyone, I agree with starlight regarding O level track.MP
Absolutely nothing wrong with O level track.
having an o level cert is safe because 6 years is a long time and IP syllabus is not for all kids. -
All hv diff learning paths and abilities, and just choose the one you think is the most suitable for you ie your kid.
If O level is bad, MOE will abolish it.
We are all here to learn from one another. -
IP track is not for all kids. 6 years is a very long time and there are many who can’t make it in Year 2 or Year 3.
burning the candle both sides will cause kids to burn out. -

it’s not right to look down on students who take the o level track.
it’s as good as saying those who take the o level track are not intelligent compared to IP. -

Being in IP doesn’t equate to being more intelligent.it's not right to look down on students who take the o level track.
it's as good as saying those who take the o level track are not intelligent compared to IP.
It is just a difference in learning styles.
As parents, we shld never inculcate such mindset to our kids.
