        I’m no stats guru but I believe the "middle" scores is the exact middle measure between the start and end point. Not sure if it is right but are you looking for a school that is close to ZERO in terms of the median and "middle" scores? What happens if the median is higher then the "middle" scores? Wouldn’t that mean that the cohort is stronger than originally thought? I’m just confused…

          Quick statistics lesson:

          MEAN is the average. So the scores of all the students who were accepted into the school divided by the number of students
          MODE is the number that has the most repeats. With the T-score this is not really relevant as there are invisible decimal places that make the numbers more unique and even if there is a score with the most repeats it doesn’t really signify anything in this case
          MEDIAN is the middle value, i.e. if you line up all the students who got in according to their T scores, the student who is right in the middle of this lineup is the one with the median score.

            Seems like girls on the whole did better than boys at PSLE level. 😄

              yah lor, looks like more brainy girls when they are young - more disciplined n focused - i noted this trend has been around for many years le ... i think even in sec sch, more girls perform better - BUT more boys do catch up a lot in Jc / uni - when they catch up,, the speed graph is exponential :scared:

                Welcome everyone!

                Nope, did not compile or include affiliated scores.

                  It was noted even during my Primary school days that girls do better at PSLE than boys. But we make our presence felt during higher education 😂

                    If you go to the MOE SIS full website, by selection of the school you are enquiring, you can see the cop, highest and median scores by affiliated and non-affiliated. The definition and computation of median are also given. They did informed that DSA scores are not included in the calculation.

                      It is true that most girls perform better than boys when they are younger. Girls are more mature and are able to focus while boys tend to be more playful and all over the place. This can be seen even in their preschool years. Girls are really way ahead especially in the verbal linguistic department.

                      Boys will however catch up during their teens and this is what we always term as 开窍.

                        Absolutely correct.
                        7 students hold the following score: 1, 2, 2, 5, 6, 6, 6.
                        Middle (i.e. mean) = Sum (1:7)/7 = 4
                        Median = 5
                        Middle is usually skewed by the outlier, i.e. super top-scorer, while median is a better reflection of the strength of the cohort.

                        I suspect this additional stat provided is preparation in anticipation of the AL banding.
