fable:
So taking Nanyang Girls for example.. COP 264.Highest 285..median 268..does it mean with 301 girls in the cohort..150 girls scored between 264 and 268 .1 girl 268 ( to make it simple) then another 150 girls scored between 269 and 285?Quick statistics lesson:
MEAN is the average. So the scores of all the students who were accepted into the school divided by the number of students
MODE is the number that has the most repeats. With the T-score this is not really relevant as there are invisible decimal places that make the numbers more unique and even if there is a score with the most repeats it doesn't really signify anything in this case
MEDIAN is the middle value, i.e. if you line up all the students who got in according to their T scores, the student who is right in the middle of this lineup is the one with the median score. -

Yep, I think this is right for the non-affiliated student population.

Is 285 the highest tscore for last year PSLE?

Yay! Now 3pm over, now can hang around this particular thread and talk rocks for 3 weeks or so until 19 November. :celebrate:
Statistics and T-score question. Would it be fair to say that 240 would usually be around the top 15.9%, seeing as 240 would be on average exactly 1 standard deviation away from the mean for all 4 subjects? :scratchhead:
Give or take a bit for the difference between mean and median, but seeing the large population size of >39,000, shouldn't be very far right? -

285+3
If that girl went to SAP school, it will be reflected as 288, if the girl went to non-SAP school, it will be reflected as 285. -

:whut: 288 ?![/quote]To be more accurate, it is 285 + 3. The girl went to a non-SAP school, so it should be recorded as 285 for that school. But because she DSA-ed, this highest score was not officially reflected on the MOE websitemommyNg:
