Living with Depression
-
Thanks ladies who have given advice here and sent me pms. Reading up on the earlier posts certainly do help me feel better and assess the situation more clearly.
I’ve arranged for HB to see a counsellor first, and he’s receptive to it. If necessary, proceed to see a pyschaitrist if he needs further help. Hopefully, can update on any good progress soon. -

Hope your hubby's condition improves after a few sessions. Should he require further help, do seek a psychiatrist. Mental problems can be serious and not something anyone can say, 'get out of it'. All the best. -

Do take care of yourself as well. I know very well how draining and frustrating it can be. A lot of people will say try and resolve it yourself by doing this or that. But if you do not know what exactly is the trigger, there is no way you will be able to resolve it. You may think that oh, maybe it is this or that and you try to change what you think is the cause and for a while it may seem that things are improving but ultimately, the problem surface again.
For me I am still wondering, is it his job and the issues he has with me that is causing the depression or his depression that is resulting in the problems that he has with his job and with me. Which came first, the chicken or the egg. -
I can see signs that my close relative is having depression again. Some signs. Argh.... :frustrated: Why can't she take the medicine prescribed by the psychiatrist religiously? Why is she acting as if she is a psychiatrist and knows more about medication than the psychiatrist himself so she only takes medicine as and when she feels like it? Why can't she listen to the psychiatrist and guai guai take the medicine until the psychiatrist stops the medicinie? Why must she acts like a psychiatrist herself? Did she study as a psychiatrist so she knows it is ok to stop the medicine? I don't need this kind of stress. My son is having PSLE this year so it is already stressful enough for me :stupid:
Sorry for the rant. -

nobody needs stress like that, not u, not this close relative of yours either. in her own mind, i do not think she realised that she is indirectly causing stress to u.
is there anyone closer to her to help her monitor her medicine intake? or perhaps another visit to her doc may help her get the situation into perspective?
try not to take things onto yourself. there is only so much one person can take. ask for help if u can.
do take it easy. :snuggles: -

your relative did not take her medicine probably because:
1) she felt better and stopped taking on regular basis.
2) she didn't want to depend on it.
when the signs of a relapse takes place, it is going to be harder to pick up the pieces. -

Thank you, icy_mama. I feel much better after ranting here. I saw the signs about 2 weeks ago but nobody believed me. Now another family member suspected it also. We are going to visit her this weekend. I hope she is not in denial and would agree to see the psychiatrist soon.

Many will just brush it off or leave her be.
