Is there a copycat Victoria secondary school out there??!thisis2012:
I told my boy he’ll be on his own now going into sec school. No more stress. :xedfingers:
I thought so too until I realised he enrolled in the wrong Victoria secondary school and had to rush off to beg the Principals of both schools to try to rectify the problem. It was a nightmare! -
Haha ! How come there are 2 Victoria Secondary schools ?

I think it’s better to monitor the child in the beginning…firstly there is a drastic change from primary 6 to secondary 1…from 4 to 9 subjects excluding CCA. time management and increased usage of WhatsApp will zap up a lot of time if the child is not able to handle.

hi Janet,
can share some key points, how to guide Secondary school children, from handling 4 to 9 subjects this huge, big jump ? Thank you. -

Yeah, I feel so too for both, despite I know my DD will not be going to a fantastic school. Now good neighbourhood school competition is tough too. Sigh.anyone feels the same as me?
time seems to pass so slow while waiting for the sch allocation result..
waiting for PSLE result was not so bad though.. -

the first 2-3 months can be overwhelming because of the adjustment.

it's advisable to find a CCA which doesn't demand too many days staying back after school as it will zap up the energy to revise and get homework done. then there is this WhatsApp group among students which will distract the kids from studying.
most importantly, listen in class and do not hesitate to ask the teacher if there is anything not understood. secondary school teachers treat sec 1 students as young adults. if need to, ask the teacher for a few minutes after school to clarify.
SBQ (short based questions) is something new to learn for history and geography.
hope this helps. -
I wanna know:
There's competition everywhere. Just difference in levels. The best kind of school we can put our children in are those where they are given the chance to lead the school in specific domains. That gives them a chance to excel in areas which they are good at. Remember that if you send your child to a school like RI, it would be more likely your child suffers in mediocrity while he could be amongst the top students in another school which gives him something to be proud of.

Good luck for your selection! -

I just read the news , this year no morning call from MOE ? We can only get the posting result at 9am ? My flight at this hour so bad...
I think MOE every year said 9am. But, SMS came very early. -
