Compare RGS vs NYGH
-
Well, NYGH might still rise back to the top spot, you never know. But is it true that RGS’s promotion criteria is 50%? That’s a huge difference from NYGH’s 65%. Maybe RGS sets harder papers…?

Oxbridge admissions dominated by top schools
Oxbridge is dominated by a small group of elite schools, with over half the students accepted over a decade educated at just 250 institutions.
An investigation by Varsity, looking at 11 undergraduate intake cycles over the decade from 2006 to 2016, shows the huge proportion of students who come from a small number of schools.
.....
Of the top five schools for overall intake, three – Westminster School, Eton College and St Paul’s School – are UK independent schools that charge day pupils over £20,000 a year. Eton and St Paul’s are all-male, while Westminster admits female students to its sixth form. Hills Road Sixth Form College, which is adjacent to Homerton college, is ranked third, with Raffles Junior College in Singapore placing fifth despite a below-average success rate. St Paul’s Girls’ School, which ranks sixth overall, has the most strikingly high success rate among the top schools: over 50% of its pupils who applied to Oxbridge over the cycles were accepted...... -

This year (2019), NYGH made new changes to their Y2 to Y5 promotional criteria.
Based on RGS 50% clearance passing vs. NYGH 2019 new changes, RGS look easier to pass.
However, have you seen past years RGS IP ( Y3, Y4) Maths content exam paper ? Do u feel that RGS Maths subject Paper are tougher (more difficult), than that of NYGH Maths, meaning that for Maths subject, the standard expected in RGS, is higher ? -
Two questions, concerning SIP students
a)
For NYGH (independent school) pupils who had been identified by school to exit IP programme, got streamed into SIP-O-level (Structured IP) course, at the end of (Year 2 or Year 3) -
are they still paying $300+ school fees per month, or cheaper, since now studying an O-level course ?
b)
For NYGH SIP students -
after passing (clearing) GCE O-level exam, is there any special discount (privilege) of minus 2 points, if they want to go back to their Hwa Chong Junior College (A-level) ?
(above 2 questions, also apply to Hwa Chong, Y1 to Y4 IP students) -

But realistically, if one is bumped off IP, how likely to get the sort of O-level results where it even matters? Not so easy to jump from mainly fail to 6-7 A1s in 1-2 years. -

NYGH is an independent school so school fees are $300+ regardless of whether you're in IP or O level. Similarly SCGS is an independent school and school fees are the same regardless of which route you take. Two questions, concerning SIP students

No affliation bonus points for JC. -
Hi,
Browsing between these 2 schools in the forum these few days is pretty eye opener. I can feel the contrast in terms of school culture, operations, management, teaching staff, students and even parents. -
The RGS name still remains so impressive but so is NYGH now. What I do like is that RGS girls seem to speak and carry themselves very confidently. But the RGS curriculum is soooooo different from any other IP school!!!
