JC or Poly?

What I am really concern is her A Math, coz the few kids fm the same tutor managed to score As.. So it seems to be an indication that she has no flair for math.
The only courses she doesn’t mind is probably business studies, coz it’s most general. Optometry, Pharmaceutical all not interested.. sigh. Just feel that she wanted to go JC because most her friends are in that route..

Besides Business, the suggested Mass Comm is a good one. With her Lit A1, EL / CL A2, she will probably do quite well in it as well. -

No lah. H1 Math is redundant since she already got O-level A Maths. Degree courses that require H1 Maths equate that with O-level A Maths. Don't need all those high falutin A-level Mathematics concepts for Business Studies or Accountancy. My brother got dunno C5 or C6 for Add Maths but still got 1st Class from NUS Accountancy. Business Studies and Accountancy at NUS only require H1 Mathematics or O-level Additional Mathematics pass. She already has C-5 in A Maths. Can drop Mathematics altogether and concentrate on her GP and 3 H2 subjects.

A1 for Literature! She can do Literature for A levels (Arts course). I agree that H1 Math is still survivable with tuition. But Business studies (or Accounting) is IMO really not a good idea for those weak in Math.
Play to her strengths and interests. How about Mass Comm? Marketing? Or even Hospitality or Culinary Arts? Visual design?
Alternatively, since she is strong in English Lit and languages, go MI Art. Who knows? Maybe can get A for GP and 3 H2 A in her strong areas and still shoot for Law!
PS. I mention Law just to point out that the sky is still the limit for your dd. But that C6 in Combined Humanities need to examine the reason. -

Looks like MI has changed its combinations. In my daughter's time, a few years ago, Arts students could offer a H1 science as a contrasting subject. H1 Maths is not really like A Maths, according to what I've been told. It's a subset of H2 Maths (but the questions are generally easier for the same topics).

I don't think Accounting is considered a contrasting subject for Arts, and all Accounting combinations include Maths at either H1 or H2 level. -

The other Arts subjects in MI are Geog and Hist, and there is also Management under Commerce. She hasn't done well in Combined Humanities, but maybe with more focus on a specific subject, she might enjoy it more and do better? If she has an fairly outgoing personality and likes to write, work in groups etc, then Mass Comm or related Media type poly courses may suit her. My daughter tried Mass Comm at a poly after her A levels (long story), but her personality didn't suit those courses. And since she managed to get a place in a more suitable course in NTU with her A level grades, she switched. -

That said, the problem with Business and Accountancy, the 10th percentile IGP is ABB/B and AAB/C (using NUS as a reference). So she will need to score very well, no matter her subjects combination. -
Thank you all for the advice! Really greatly appreciated. Will really need to talk to her to weigh all the pros and cons… She seems lost right now and not keen to commit in any poly courses. Just thinking of JC since most of her friends are taking this route… so it’s like talking to a brick wall… But eventually if she choose the JC route, will just have to give her full support in terms of tuition. Can’t force her into something that she doesn’t want to do also…

Well, the hope is that since she has dropped Sciences, her 3 H2 subjects will be more suited to her abilities and interests, and she can do better. That's what I told my daughter when she went to MI, and although she didn't do exceedingly well, she got into a course which she is interested in. A great relief to me!
Frankly, would a person who doesn't like Maths want to study Accountancy? I remember having a big fight with my father over this when I was 19. I still don't like numbers now, and can't imagine how I would have survived if I took Accountancy. -
