How to calculate O level aggregate on L1R5?
English + Math + Humanities? -
For computation of L1R5, the details are available on MOE webpage.
https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/direct-admissions/dsa-jc/eligibility
Basically,
1) 1 language must be included (can be either English or higher Chinese.)
2) 1 humanity subject has to be included (there are other subjects that can replace this humanity subject but I guess not that many students will take them? They are higher art/higher music/Malay special programme/ Chinese special programme/ Bahasa Indonesia)
3) one maths or science has to be included.
4) an additional math or science or humanity has to be included (similarly, the humanity subject can be replaced by any of those subjects like higher art/higher music/Malay special programme/Chinese special programme/bahasa Indonesia)
4) any other 2 best subjects have to be included (POA will fall into this category if it is one of your 2 other best subjects)
There are other requirements on core subjects (English/Chinese/maths) for admission to JC, no matter whether u include them in yr L1R5 or not. (Should probably be included for most anyway)
They shouldn’t pose a problem but u can still take a look at them.
It is on the same webpage. HTH -
Is POA (O-level) difficult ?

Is POA (O-level) difficult ?
Not very sure, but my dd1 did well during her POA O Level (A1). Her ex tutor, who is an Accountancy graduate, also mentioned before that it is a good starting point for those who want to see if Accountancy / Business is suitable for them and the POA knowledge in secondary school will be very useful in uni when they start off with the foundation modules. -
Hi, sharing… I had the chance to speak to a student leader (in Y2018, @CTSS). The school encourages all students to do both E+A Maths, but she explained that for students who do not like Maths that much, they can take POA instead.

Page 28 of the JAE booklet designates O-level POA as 'Others'.
Page 88 of the JAE booklet however designates A-level H2 POA as 'Mathematics & Science'. -
Thanks Lego! This is very informative!
