Not sure where would be appropriate to post this but would like to share a personal experience.

Late last week, I thought I had mild food poisoning or stomach flu. On Sunday, my tummy-ache had gotten worse (already 3rd day) so I went to see my GP and was told I need to undergo a surgery immediately and I should head down to A&E straight away as GP suspected it was a case of appendicitis. I cried when I heard this as I had phobia entering the operating theater.

Was deciding between TTSH and Mt E Novena but decided to go for the latter since I am covered by medical insurance. I waited like 20 mins at A&E before going for a CT scan. Scan showed that it was not appendicitis but colon inflammation cos it was all swelled up (with pus).

So I celebrated my CNY in the hospital receiving antibiotics drips non stop.

Conclusion, when you or your family members feel a sharp pain on the right side of the abdomen with the intensity getting worse, don’t delay treatment. Be it appendicitis or colon inflammation, both can rupture anytime and could be life threatening.

I am scheduled to go back for a blood test next week and also to do a colon scope in 2 weeks time. TBH, I am pretty scared! 😢

Good question. The doctor can’t say for sure what is the cause. The first question he asked me was whether I have a family history of colon cancer, which I thought Death had come knocking at my door! Lol.

The doctor further shared that once women hit 40yo and above, anything can go haywire. It could be as simple as some waste that got stuck along the colon and got infected to cause inflammation. Or due to contaminated food that started breeding bacteria. Hard to say

Oh no, when you ask such questions, it will scare me. :nailbite:

Not on regular basis thou, maybe 2-3 days once. I have not done colon scoping before. 😓 🙏

                      Hi lee,

do u have bleeding, when u pass motion ? If no, you are safe

Do you have the urge to go toilet, but each time when u sit at the toilet bowl, nothing come out ? Then when u step out of the toilet, go back to living hall, after sit down for a while, the urge to go toilet … come back again ? And this repeat, often. lee_yl, hope things turn out well with the tests and scope in coming weeks. In any case, it’ll be good to include more water, fruits n veg in your diet, and cut down on the fatty and oily foods. Try (although it’s hard) not to get too stressed in the meantime.
