jqkmummy:
Sorry for the delay. The 2018 data will be out when I get off my butt. I have it but it takes time to get it into our system and I've been idle. It should be ready in the next few weeks.where can we all find the 2018 P1 ballot history ? Here only have till 2017 ballot results.
btw, p1 registration is based in NRIC residing address correct? as our BTO will only be ready next yr, and we are not sure when will we be shifitng in as we have plans to continue stay in our current place (which is in laws' place) since their are main caregiver for our kids. .so we may leave our new flat vacant for first 1~2 yrs..
Are you thinking of using your current or new address for registering? Since you will get your new flat in a year's time, I think you bring your documents and show them to the registration staff in person.

If in the same phase, would you choose St Nicholas or Rosyth? Distance wise, St Nicholas is nearer.

It’s not a straightforward answer.
Given the way your question is being phrased, I’m assuming you are eligible for them under Phase 2A. Here are the follow up questions:
1. Phase 2A1 or 2A2?
Be mindful that SNGS may even ballot at 2A1.
2. How near is near?
Bukit Timah is nearer to both schools than Jurong, but distance wise, both locations are no different in the system (> 2km).
3. Single child? More than one but all girls? Mixed gender?
P/S: if you are not under Phase 2A1 or 2A2, you don’t really have a choice to make.
Your answers will affect the ultimate decision. -

This is only a dilemma for Phase 1 and Phase 2A(1).
For all other phases, you have zero chance if you’re not <1km of the school. -
will u go for phase 2b st andrews junior (>2 km) or phase 2c catholic high (<1 km)? dilemma…

Here's the 'dilemma' you may have:
You could very well end up with neither.
1. SAJS ballot for Phase 2B > 2km, and you miss out.
2. CHS ballot for Phase 2C < 1km, and you miss out.
Thus, you don't really have a dilemma.
Apply for SAJS at Phase 2B > 2km, and see how things turn out. If you get a place, start thinking hard about CHS at Phase 2C < 1km and decide whether it's worth to give up a place. If you don't get a place in SAJS, you don't have much options beside CHS at Phase 2C < 1km.
If you don't get a place in CHS < 1km, you will have to look at the options available for Phase 2CS. -

floppy did a good job answering your question. To me, his third point is most important. Do you have another younger child? If so, is it a girl? If you have a younger daughter, then St. Nick's probably the best choice, since your younger girl will bypass all these hassles when her time comes. But if you have a younger son, you have to do it all over again for his P1 registration.
Just a reminder... St. Nick's still pretty hot and hard to get in even for Phase 2A1. You must be prepared to ballot for a place. -
floppy:
Agreed. There is no dilemma between the 2 schools because they are in different phases and both require balloting.hedgehog53:

Just try balloting at 2B (you don’t have any other reasonable choice assuming you are Anglican).
If u don’t get a seat at 2B, then try balloting at 2C (I recall Cat High balloting odds are extremely difficult, at close to 2 fighting for every 1 seat?)
If u don’t get a seat at 2C, then go to next stage 2C(S) whichever nearby that has seats left, probably Guangyang Primary or First Toa Payoh? -
We are planning for a trip around Jul-August period. Anyone has any idea roughly what are the dates for each phase for P1 registration?

The dates are always in that July-August period. I suggest you skip your trip. Unless u’re willing to appoint a grandparent or trusted friend to handle the registration on your behalf.
