@ marzipan I don’t think it’ll affect yr DSA chances at this point in time. By the time u rest for CCA, it’ll be close to end Apr. Is yr child using his CCA to DSA? Usually the coaches will be around to scout for talents & the few mths to May/June will not make much diff as yr child wld hv proven track record. Not sure abt this year with the centralized system.

I m not sure about the effectiveness of supp classes..dd says she loves it and ti me, aiya free tuition, I like.
the kids are so tired after a long day in school. frankly supplementary lessons are just extension of curriculum.
I really don't see how effective they are. I took my kids out of supp so that they could come home for a bath, rest and have tuition in the evening...1-to-1.

as for past year exam papers, I hardly see any effectiveness if the teacher doesn't explain the mistakes. if the same questions are repeated, the students will only continue to make the same mistake.

pace yourself. from now to September, there are 5 months to go but you cannot afford to get burnt out.
if not using DSA, treat SA1 as a form of revision. schools usually set prelims tough as a form of 'wake up' call.
vitamin C is important. take care of yourself.

One of the things I did was to formally request for exemption to supplemenatary classes that my child do not need & esp those my child alr performing very well alr. In P6 we only retain support classes for CL. In this way, my child hv only 2 afternoons in sch - CL & CCA.

I m not sure about the effectiveness of supp classes..dd says she loves it and ti me, aiya free tuition, I like.

Frankly, the supp classes are not effective

Janet, u are right, my kid is beginning to feel the burnt out effect, right now. Stress level is high, because left only 3 week ... sa1 (labour day week 1 may that week start), and so much haven't revised yet ... sian

For those planning (intend, targeting) to dsa, we need to work hard, show good p6 sa1 (mid-year) results. Otherwise, end up showing lousy results, to the interviwers.

Frankly, those supp classes are not effective

phtthp, do give your gal some relaxation on a daily basis. To avoid burnout, give at least a timeout to do something to relax the brain. Can be reading or doing cooking or doing some gardening etc.

I put a hard stop on Supp Classes when DS1 took PSLE last year. DS1 thinks that Supp Classes by mummy are even better than the school. Also some school(s) arrange for Supp Classes for the sake of doing that. I am not advocating the school supp classes are not good, it is just merely targeting to the masses for average. That is my opinion lah.

Like what Estee recommended, we only go for Chinese Supp Class as it concentrate on oral which both my DS1 and myself think is great. Also DS1 likes his Chinese teacher alot.
