I don't think everyone who was rejected is on the waitlist. There would be hundreds on the waitlist if so. There probably is a short waitlist, prioritized by their performance in the FSA and SJT. Vacancies will only come up if those offered give up their places; usually these are students who decide to go overseas or who decide to go LKC or who decide medicine is not for them. Numbers will not be high, especially in light of the clamping down on recognized unis by MOH.

Take heart
Yes, he is now in OCT SPF
Even 100% Singaporeans with swords of honour, multiple NS awards are rejected
I am not sure about Med, but it is quite tough for PR and Foreigners in other courses too.
However,
A girl I kn with 2 A a B is in medicine. She did 3H2. Not very outstanding CCA, just a council member. But she is a very pretty Singaporean pan Asian : )
So sometimes I do wonder what exactly is the criteria for Medicine these days. -

Yes, it is very depressing for someone who work hard in academic and cca and cannot afford to go overseas for medicine. -

Panickymummy,
It is sad to hear that NS man has so much rewards rejected by NUS/NTU medicine school. I suggest the child can apply nus medicine next year through EIS.
Did he apply LKC this year ? If not, he can take the BMAT and apply LKC next year.
Actually being a doctor need to have a heart for patients and really think of the patients need no matter whether patient is rich or poor. -
Last year, my child was placed on waitlist by NTU LKC. They offered her a place to the medical school only in early July. We rejected it since we have accepted NUS YLL offer. For NUS , a few were given the offer prior to the start of the orientation camp in Jul and one or two were even offered a place at YLL just one or 2 weeks before the term started in August.

For Med school applicants, most of them have excellent academic results and med school have vast pool of candidates to choose. Post secondary academic results only demonstrate the candidate academic background and ability to undertake medical study which is very demanding.
Next the schools are looking for candidates who really want to be a doctors ( not candidate that try their luck) and can be good doctors in the future. Hence all the other requires /tests come in. YLL SJT and FSA; NTU BMAT and MMI; your CCA , awards, references and personal statement.
For a candidate that demonstrate a military general potential, the chances is that he will be turn down. While a acceptable candidate who can strongly demonstrate the quality of a good doctor and want to be a doctor via tests / interview / CCA and references stands a better chance of been accepted whether the candidate is a 100% Singaporean for PR.
Also, donβt stain yourself with police record or Hep B.
On LKC Imperial stint, all final year students have to made 2 elective choices, 1 local and 1 overseas, beside opportunities in Imperial ( may not be able to take all students in the cohort) students can apply to other overseas medical schools/ hospitals or specialised medical institutions. Medical electives are between 4 to 6 weeks to my knowledge.
Hope my opinion help. -

Thanks for update. Your girl is so lucky to get into NUS YLL. Congrats to her.

NTU LKC waiting list is so late to offer the place. If student has other medicine school offer and the acceptance date is 24 May, how should we do about it ?
