Probably have to look at the 3 pictures…
The guiding questions in the compo
My concern is… if you write like … there is no difference between a topic : Being responsible and Being irresponsible …isn’t it?
Grey line… depends on the subjectivity of the marker -
Ya…hopefully not penalised too badly…
-
Wont lah… I heard my TLL frenz mention that they were taught to write like that… To write about the negative in order to bring about the significance of the topic… wat it meant to be responsible…
It boils down to 2 sides of the coins…
Many wrote based on your stance… tr cant possibly penalize all of them if the story is good… -

Is that so? I asked my DC if only write about being responsible, how to make it interesting. He says can write about having dilemma…in my heart I was thinking then why didn’t you write like this…

Psle English composition (paper 1):
3 pictures given.
Suppose 1 picture showed a lady’s bracelet, 2nd picture showed a card with the word, "friendship" written on card.
If a p6 student carelessly, absent-mindedly (under tense, exam condition timing) write the entire english essay based on a woman’s necklace, instead of bracelet (because 1st picture showed a bracelet) : will this student be penalized heavily by psle exam marker, because did not stick to the original picture, given ? Thanks, for advice -

Depends on the marker. Such essays will usually be flagged out by the marker and discussed with the other teachers and HOD. My DD also loosely interpreted a picture in the eng essay for her p5 SA2 last year. In the end, they let it go and didn’t penalise her heavily (I.e. didn’t fail her) but the teacher warned her not to do it again.

Checked with an English tutor from enrichment centre... likely to be severely marked down if story only mentions being responsible at the end. Looking on the bright side at least mistake is made now rather than during psle..
For compo writing, if topic is ‘being responsible’, and child wrote about being irresponsible at first then due to some incident and learn to be responsible, is it considered out of point? -

That means during psle / sa1 / sa2, p6 student is discouraged, ftom tilting the story-line halfway through written essay : from being irresponsible, to suddenly become responsible (opposite way)

Dear phtthp,
Content: title & picture relevance; authenticity of story plot; characters+plot development
Don't worry - just make sure the student jot down keywords from the Question topic & picture(s) during national exams.
