I may be wrong but I do not think MOE has stated explicitly that PSLE A* is equivalent to raw grade 91 & above. In any case, these grades (A*, A, ...) will be replaced by AL bands in another 2 years (current P4 cohort will be using the new AL scoring bands).

Interesting to note that AL band's raw mark range is made known. So if there is a killer paper in future, does that mean the %age of students scoring AL1 will be much lesser than other years? In the current system, killer paper or not, I believe the % of A* is roughly the same each year but there is no way for us to know for sure since MOE does not release the % of A*.

Killer paper means a lot of students will just bunch up further down the line. There will be more AL2, AL3 or maybe AL4 scorers for that subject. Overall PSLE AL score will be a lot closer and the students' rank choice of schools will matter even more. Given that there are only 25 or 26 (?) possible scores in the first place, doubt there is a lot of difference in the overall scheme of things.

          Hi,

My DS EL SA1 result was 60/100. Can someone recommend tuition centres in Clementi/Jurong that can help my DS improve his marks? His Compo, Grammar & Compre Cloze are weak. Thanks a lot!

Hello Fishermum, I'd agree with our forummer, that if it is not just Compo (also weak in other language components like grammar, etcetera), LilButMighty is a good choice (in the West), though I suspect all their P6 classes are already full... Do try contacting them nonetheless. Good luck!

I can recommend a tutor but I'm not sure he'll be able to take your child at such a short notice. Maybe instead discuss with your current tutor and how to best proceed? Do you know your child weak areas? Most tutors/tuition centres works with the child less than 2hrs a week, not much time to improve. Languages need a lot of effort and time to improve. Target his or hers weak areas (eg S&T) and systematically work towards improving by providing her or him with extra practices from assessment books or Top school papers. If you have pinpoint his or her weak areas, you can also consider sending to additional target specific classes like Compo classes if you prefer.

                      All the best.

@sweetbaby my DS is weak on all areas πŸ˜” Have talked to his tutor before but still no improvement.

And I am not able to help him. Wanted to enrol him for holiday class but not sure which is good and is it worth or not cos it is only for a few days. Can you pm me your tutor's contact? Thanks
