is it really not possible to know the ‘live’ number of people who have applied versus what’s available during the P stages?

Will the relevant schools know?

imagine the phase is 1 week long and half way through the week all the available slots have already been applied and taken - this number should be published immediately so parents can target another school?

hi, the school will have the number. They have no obligation to disclose the number but try to ask nicely from the school.

The registration is only open for 1/2/3 days, depending on the registration phase, it's not a week long. MOE will update the number of applicant on their website at the end of each registration day.

Hi parents, asking for my neighbour. We’re within 1-2km of the following schools:


CHIJ Toa Payoh
Kheng Cheng
Pei Chun
And within 1km for Hong Wen

Which school will have the best odds for Phase 2C SC? My neighbour is enrolling her girl. We were discussing Hong Wen but it is so terribly oversubscribed every single year that we don’t feel there’s a good chance even >1km, also plus the fact that it’s co-ed. As for schools outside of 2km, she’s considering:

St Margaret (the temp location is not an issue)
RGPS

No prior affiliation. Not sure how to advise her.

Given the change in format from MOE, I also adopt a difference approach, I will only highlight the worse off situation. Using my eye power :skeptical: , I listed down some schools with higher take up (either due to drop in intake or increase applicants) as compared to last year - dragon year.


Temasek (Increased risk in 2A2, 2B and 2C)
Catholic high (Increased risk in 2A1, 2B, 2C) but likely to remain same zone risk
Keming (2C but with lower take up on Princess Elizebeth and St anthony, may not be worse off than last year)
Alexandra (2C but lower in Radin mas and Zhangde may help)
Bukit Panjang (2C)
West Spring (2C)
Pei Hwa (2A2, 2B 2C)
River Valley (2C)
Fuhua (2Cs)
Shuqun (2C but overall zone dropped)
Punggol Cove and Punggol Green (2C)
Fairfield (2B, 2C)
Queenstown (2C)
Fern green (2C)

I assume you are less than (<) 1km from HWS and not more than (>).

No need to waste time and consider - CHIJ TP, PCPS.

Will ballot (based on your distance) - HWS, RGPS.

Likely safe, guaranteed place - KCPS, SMPS.

Ultimately if she wants to ballot, go for HWS since the odds (< 1km) will likely be better than for RGPS (> 2km). If she wants to avoid balloting, take a look at KCPS and SMPS.

IMHO, for Phase 2A1, only a few schools are worth watching out for by the stats collector.
