center/small grp tutition for english? West area. My P5 child is weak in compo/paper2 some section.
Hi, if it's both continuous writing & paper 2 comprehension, synthesis etcetera, in the west, small group (I'm not their student, but if I'm not mistaken, they have less than 10 in a class), then LilButMighty? Learning Point (frens' reviews) is a good choice too, though their class size seems slightly bigger. They also seem to spend more time on grammar than composition.

MindStretcher? There are frens who go there for the convenience of having a few subjects under one roof.

            Hi Parents,

I thought of bringing my DD to travel after her PSLE for a mother-daughter bonding trip before she goes to Secondary School but not sure when will be a good time to travel esp results will be out around 22-24 Nov and thereafter we need to select the schools, orientation, purchasing of uniforms and school textbooks, etc.

Experience parents, need your advice on the date for travelling that will not clash with the dates. Is1-15 Dec the best time to travel?

            Thank! 🙂

To save parents from the trouble of digging through this thread, here's my previous posts regarding CL oral (sorry for the long post) ---->

Despite oral conversation being tested in the form of video rather than picture, knowing how to ‘call’ the objects/people in Chinese is still the ‘basis’ towards expressing one’s view and thoughts in CL oral. (E.g. there’s a dangerous action of someone playing on escalator and the candidate ‘calls’ the escalator“楼梯”instead)

If all of the above are not feasible for you, then do consider getting the books I recommended here: https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=81235&p=1880497&hilit=oral#p1880497 and identify the nouns/verbs mentioned in the books & videos that your son does not know (how to say in Chinese). Do the same if he was given oral package notes from his school this year.

Some schools get students to stay back or come earlier (usually Term 2 on-wards) so that teachers and/or parent volunteers can guide/do oral practice with them on 1-1 basis.

                For CL:
Most schools also provide oral guidebook/handouts - of which the contents are more than sufficient (esp. when compared to tuition centers). The key is read through them consistently, understand the pointers, develop one's train of thought and remember the good/key expressions and descriptive phrases.

                E.g.:

Common topics to prepare for as well as to use as practice to strength the child's critical thinking and analytical skills --->
                https://i.postimg.cc/43VSh2B1/oral2.jpg\">

Past year passages to read for practices --->
                http://chenlaoshi.wixsite.com/psleprepclass/scope-of-curriculum
(notice some phrases' repeated occurrence over some of the years and how majority of the passages include conversation/dialogue - for students to score via the correct application of tone)

Hi Bochapmum3, below is a quick summary of most of the topics I cover with students from https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=85&t=92344&start=40. May seem like a lot but points/phrases actually overlap across certain topics. Correct answering technique and critical thinking skills when applied, makes it easier for the kids to structure and articulate their thoughts too.

Teacher SzeLi is an experienced Psle compo tutor (at an enrichment centre), who had also taught Secondary EL (same enrichment centre).

I’ve already booked my trip for 07-18 Dec 😅. So yes, 1-15 Dec is fine. You can even try psle marking week and take advantage of some lull period prices.
