Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums and this whole P1 registration process. Please pardon my silly question:

There is only 1 school within my 1km, and unfortunately I have no ties to it so I can only register in Phase 2C. Was previously working overseas the past 10 years also so missed out on the PV window (it's 100% my fault). Historically, this school has always balloted but no choice so I'll take my chances. Since we can only register one school during this phase, simply put, is my 'back up plan' just to take whatever is left in Phase 2CS?

Thank you and apologies if this has already been asked and answered.

your pri sch / your spouse pri sch?

it's not as simple as take whatever its left,
whatever is left, also can filter finely one.

My spouse did not study in a local primary school and my primary school was Maris Stella, but its too far from my place and I prefer a co-ed school so my other kid can get in more easily next time haha.

Actually the only school within 1km is Henry Park, and the next closest but out of the 1km range are Pei Tong and Fairfield Methodist. But Henry Park is always ballot so yeah... just have to go in and see how that turns out πŸ˜“

        wah HPPS,

confirm ballot within 1KM in 2C.

Bukit Timah Primary is another 2CS plan.

That is if you are driving and willing to get up early to send him to school and then work.

To leave the fate to balloting is a \"terrible experience\" no one wants to give a 2nd shot. And besides, Henry Park is too hot and those not gotten a place in 2C, will have very limited 2CS choices near there, and it will not be a school of your choice.

You can go in Maris Stella at 2A2 1st, then when 2C last day, monitor the stats at the school. If your heart wants you to ballot at Henry Park after seeing the no. of applicants vs vacancies, then withdraw from Maris Stella and register for ballot at 2C.

If you want to try your luck, you actually have 3 tries: 2C ballot for Henry Park. 2CS ballot for either Clementi Primary or Bukit Timah Primary (the former is nearer for you but the latter more likely to have vacancies). If fail at 2CS, MOE is highly likely to allocate you Pei Tong anyway.

besides, Maris Stella is SAP - P1 takes higher Chinese.

HPPS is not SAP - P1 kids take normal Chinese.

This might be another adv to go for Maris.

Thank you all for your kind advice! This has certainly provided a much needed realistic perspective on what choices I have in this big lottery game haha. Really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart!

This is not a lottery game! Lottery has really bad odds. Take this as a calculated risk investment. This is the single most important decision in life, besides choosing your spouse πŸ™‚
