Hi I'll be registering for Phase 2C for my son next week. After the hustle and bustle of Phase 2B last week, it seems to me the 3 boys schools (ACSP, ACSJ and SJIJ) are very highly subscribed this year as compared to previous years. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the balloting is going to be more intense in Phase 2C than Phase 2B, i.e. there will be more than 34 SC less than 1 km balloting for 27 seats in ACSP? Or do you think the numbers will balance themselves among the 3 schools?
2C is definitely more intense than 2B. Those can’t get in 2B will try again in 2C, with more public contesting. Monitor stats and get in if risk suits you.

Perhaps use the next few days to ask around more about SJIJ (eg family & friends, or in the SJIJ thread) what pull factors the school has?

Then you can make a more informed choice about whether to apply there if the balloting risk gets too high for you to bear…

There will be 6 from 2B going for 2C within 1km in ACSP (Assume) for the 27lots.

Samsung77 you’re right! Bringing forward the 6 who had been balloted out from Phase 2B, essentially there’re only 21 seats left for Phase 2C.

After looking through ACSP balloting history for the past years, the trend is Phase 2C faces more intense competition than Phase 2B. If this year in Phase 2B we see 34 balloting for 28 places, this means that there will be at least 34 or more SC within 1km balloting for 27 places in Phase 2C. This should be an all-time high figure for balloting for ACSP. Thanks Zac’s Mum, seems that there’s indeed a need to check out SJIJ in depth!

Davischew, balloting sure isn’t for the faint-hearted. Results for 2C will only be out after 5 days unlike the other phases…sure many sleepless nights!

2C is like swimming in an ocean… many foreign born singaporean are hovering over it as well. I would be extreme (personal opinon only) that, priority should be given to Local Born Singaporean with Local Born parents + Methodist members. It seems so easy for these foreigners to be Singaporean these days and they are not staying here for long, but rather as a stepboard only to UK or US eventually.

Anyway, hard to balance it out. Only thing is to Pray, and Lord to have mercy and pick. The agony is unbearable.

Perhaps we shouldn’t dwell on this PR, new citizens thing too much. I can see this is very related to previous discussions on if a student gets in a school with affiliated feeder schools, will he/she fit in well since they already have their own clique. We local born also think new citizens trying to come in and clique with us. Can we let them? Can we live in harmony and be as fair as possible? Maybe we are fated to live together in this same land?

Its not conclusive... the 6 may be tempted to try but i think in 2C, there may be some parents that switch to SJI Jr if the their balloting threshold is breached to avoid a ballot.

For phase 2C, is there any where to check for updates on number of applicants?
