Can I confirm…for both EL/HCL, it is ok to chose just one picture to write the compo.

How about for CL?
One of the school's prelim CL picture compo is regarding misbehaving during outdoor learning/learning journey (ended up straying away from the group). Important to remind the kids that while climax is usually in picture 3-4/4-5, sometimes the story can peak really late. Thus, planning (5-ish minutes) is important, so that they plot their story and allocate enough time accordingly. All the best for Prelims!

HCL 情景 - an awkward (尴尬) incident
完成 - walking towards 2 friends who were whispering
- flashback to sports day

Another CL 看图 topic - father and daughter running in park, witnessed robbery, victim was hurt, father gave chase
Another CL 看图 topic - boy went with mum and younger sister to shop, boy saw mask on display and decided to prank his sister, ended up shocking another lady who accidentally hit a vase, causing it to fall from shelve.

Hi westbb,

This question is quite tricky because 尴尬 differs from the more general 不好意思/难为情.

Thus it will be more appropriate to go along the line of misunderstanding, rather than feeling guilty and embarrassed after a wrong act.

Previously when discussing the this topic with students, I encouraged them to tweak from the frequently written stories (since they would already have a basis of the plot and are familiar with how to go about writing the gist of it).

For example:
1) Typical plot --> elderly board bus/train, no one gave up seat, author/sensible child gave up seat instead, others were full of praise for him/her and/or felt embarrassed
Tweaked plot --> elderly board bus/train, no one gave up seat, author saw youth seated on reserve seat and criticized him, only to realize that he was sick (really dozed off instead of pretending) or he was handicapped (blind or prosthetic leg 假肢)

2) Typical plot --> recess time, witnessed classmate A stealing classmate B's belonging, stopped him/her or reported to teacher
Tweaked plot --> recess time, witnessed classmate A taking classmate B's belonging from his/her bag, stopped him/her or reported to teacher, only to realize it was classmate A who sought classmate B's help to bring the belonging to him/her

3) Typical plot --> witnessed theft/pick pocketing, righteous and alerted everyone and/or gave chase
Tweaked plot --> witnessed theft/pick pocketing, righteous and alerted everyone and/or gave chase, only to realize it as a filming of a drama series

For all the above examples, the ending can point out the takeaway that even though one's intention may be good, it is important not to jump to conclusion/be impulsive etc.

I know for HML this could happen, what about for EL compo?

Choose at least one picture and write based on topic given in the question, should be OK.
