I have seen the slides the MGS Principal presented at their info talk for P6s few months ago. Actually, the performance of their O level track girls is nothing to shout about. It's decent but I would say it is mid-tier.

The MGS IB track girls' performance however, was quite impressive. They showed how their IB girls did after they went to ACSI and got the IB diploma.

I would say the MGS IB girls are of a high calibre, the same girls that would apply to RGS and NYGH too.
Well presented facts with no name calling.

220s will produce o level results that are nothing to shout about. Hence mid tier school for olevels. If you are in mgs pri n even get in the 240s i dont see you going back to your own pri school when you can be in a homogenous sec school that takes student in your league...

So similarly, unless you want to die die to do the iB if you exceed the cop or even if you are sitting on the cop, top 4 is where u would go you would at least try ur luck. Leave the mid tier for those in the mid tier. That's life. It may hurt but thats the way it is....

Floppy calling someone daft is calling names but im sure u choose to digress, yet again.

        daft
        /dɑːft/

        adjective INFORMAL • BRITISH
adjective: daft; comparative adjective: dafter; superlative adjective: daftest

        silly; foolish.
        \"don't ask such daft questions\"

        infatuated with.
        \"I was daft about him\"

Calling someone daft, is probably calling one names.
Calling a comment daft, is just that, a daft comment. No need to get so touchy.

There's also a difference in calling MGS a mid-tier school, and saying that the performance of the OP girls are mid-tier. cutepandabear has correctly stated the latter (which I don't think anyone would take an offence to), but he/she has not insinuated the former (which would be daft... Oops! I did it again).

          based on above sharing -

if school fees in MGS (OP track) is charging $300+ per month, so expensive, then why is MGS generating \"mid-tier\" L1R5 O-level results, instead of generating \"top-tier\" O-level results ?

Floppy quite evidently taking all my comments very personally i see. You will always remain where you belong. If its mid tier so be it. Nobody's judging you. Just stating things as i see it. Just because you decide to reproduce the dictionary doesnt make you right. Its very clear what you meant. The issues lie with u.

            Amen sista.

Keep at it floppy! You clearly have all day! All the best!

The rest of us moving on......

Would you say that other indep schools like SCGS and ACSI are generating mid-tier O level results too?

                    ...
How are the big 4 decided?
these big 4 are decided, Not by (COP entry at Sec 1 , nor by the JAE COP entry at Year 5 JC1), but decided by
the performance of yearly batches of GCE \"A\" level results, churned out.

last year, 2018 GCE \"A\" level performance, based on UAS score -

                    #1 Hwa Chong Junior College
                    #2 Raffles Institution
#3 Dunman High or River Valley High ?

last year, 2018 A-level batch of Hwa Chong students' A-level Mathematics H2 performance, very strong, powerful, did better than RI H2 Maths performance

another attraction, besides A-level results, how the big 4 are decided -
is due to the strong, alumni network in existence (at work)

                    for MGS -
although her IB Sec 1 COP is very high, at 260 (in one of the past years), however,
the Number of students choosing A-level path, far exceed that the Number of students selecting IB curriculum. A-level, after all, is still more popular than IB track

                      😛

since when o level results and the school fees is related?

then schools like cedar girls should produce mid / low tier results since they are only paying $15/month.

I cannot agree with you on this. You do not try your luck when it comes to education; you choose what it is best suited for you (i.e. IB or A level).
