Looking at the psle booklet, I noticed that paya lebar methodist girls did not take in anyone through the s1 posting exercise last year.

Any idea how we can gauge the cop then?

2018 Sec 1 (born 2005) Cut off point was 250, for PLMGS Non-affliated (outside) students, who sat for 2017 PSLE

The internal COP for PLMGS affliated girls is 205

If I remember correctly, last year at Paya Lebar Methodist Girls open house, the principal mentioned that the quite a big group of their affiliated girls will proceed to their secondary level. Looking at the affiliated COP and their strongly- knit culture, looks like it’s true. Also certain number of seats are reserved for DSA, so by the time after PSLE, there will barely be many vacancies left for admission via S1 posting.

Hi ilovelaksa, I was surprised when my girl came home to tell me. All her classmates who brought 2 calculators are asked to put the extra approved with stickers to their bag. So they walked back to put back. End up my girl chose to use the new calculator we bought and lucky we bought the same version so that she is familiar in using. So learning point, next time must ask the school teacher to confirm if 2 calculators are allowed.
I dont why more calculators are not allowed.
Thank God, everything went well for your dd.
Very importantly, please ensure the calculators and e-dictionaries are on the SEAB approved list, even in secondary school. They do change.
In pri sch, can ask the teacher.
But in sec sch, the onus is on you to check.

I see... Like chij tpy[/quote]2019 this year is the first year that 20% of places will be reserved for non-affiliated students. So the affiliated girls will no longer be entitled to ~100% of the places at PLMGS, CHIJ TPY etc.

Public is welcome to apply. The demand (popular or not) from outsiders will therefore determine the COP. It’s guesswork, but if u really like the school, just put it as your first choice to be safe.

The complete list: 27 secondary schools and their affiliated primary schools https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/education/the-complete-list-27-secondary-schools-and-their-affiliated-primary-schools?xtor=CS3-18&utm_source=STiPhone&utm_medium=share&utm_term=2019-09-30%201%3A09%3A34
