Hi parents, my DD is also taking PSLE this year. Just for anyone who is interested on the Math's pattern questions, or thinks the \"MO\" pattern questions should not be included, you can refer to the solution I just posted and give some thoughts. And yup, my DD also couldn't see the pattern that I see, but it is ok. Good luck to all for Science paper, HMT and PSLE results day! 🙂

For all those parents questioning the necessity for such ridiculously difficult questions on the maths paper - the simple answer is that it’s to find the top, top students and separate them from the rest. Singaporean students are already the top in the world, if all the exams had the "normal" questions, there will be a large percentage who will do very well in the exams, and then there will be a large percentage of students who will do very well in their T-scores.

But since, PSLE is NOT a competition with yourself, but with others, the examiners will need these sort of questions to separate out the top, top from the top to the not quite top to the ok students.
As parents, we should tell our kids not to worry about these questions, to do what they can and move on - this is what I’ve told my kids - my DS got all these questions wrong, but he didn’t cry over it - we know he’s done his best and these questions would have been a struggle for him - maybe he’ll understand it next year or in two years time or maybe never, but that’s ok - move on and learn - focus on what you can do and what you know and do it to the best of your ability!
