Besides the placement/order of higher order questions like whitecarrotcake pointed out, remember your own school's prelims didn't schedule EL SW+CW+P2 right before Math. I mentioned \"cognitive fatigue\" some months ago here. It's another factor that will affect weaker students' performance in the real battle, especially if their school had broken up SW+CW 2 weeks before EL Paper 2. So the kids weren't taxed cognitively and are able to do well for Math the next day.

Skipping difficult questions carries a risk for Paper 1 of Math, or Section A of Science as the kid, under stress, might mis-shade the OAS wrongly.

Comparing answers, checking answers with tutors / teachers and finding out that you'd got some wrong may destabilise you psychologically for the upcoming subjects. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
