Affiliated Schools and their COPs
-
I really doubt the 20% cap will affect St Nicks. In the first place, St Nicks and Cat High have an artificially fixed COP. Meaning those affiliated kids who can’t meet the COP have traditionally been turned away. Quite likely the affiliated:non affiliated ratio in Sec 1 is already 80:20 (I’d guess more likely to be 60:40, but you would have better knowledge asking around the secondary kids/parents).
The cap will affect those schools that have been having 100:0 affiliated:non affiliated ratio. Or 99:1 ratio all these years. The affiliated parents know which schools we are. U don’t need to worry so much, SNGS, CHS, MSHS, SCGS, NYGH. -

The number of classes isn’t the some stock markets that go up or down regularly. It’s generally fixed and remain constant unless there’s a seismic shakeup.
this will depend on the Total number of classes opened for O-level intake, for next year (2020 Sec 1 intake)zac's mum\" post_id=\"1940540\" time=\"1570626521\" user_id=\"53606:[quote=\"zac's mum\" post_id=1940540 time=1570626521 user_id=53606]
The exciting update to watch for will be next year after the posting results are out and the actual COP data is released by MOE.
We will then see the impact of the 20% cap on the COPs.

It’s possible to tell which are the likely ones:

1. Set a very low bar for affiliates
2. But, actual COP for affiliates ends up higher and students’ t-score run all the way from the low 200s to the 240s or 250s
Those schools listed definitely ain’t the one. -
Reading my table, I am picking out those schools that have had an artificially low Express COP and a very fake round number (200 or 188) for 3 years in a row. These could possibly be the schools that will see their affiliated COP move upwards. Or at least I hope to see the real, actual COP (T score of the last, 80% affiliated student posted) published by MOE.

Here is a list of affiliated schools COP for 2018/2019. With the new rules on 1/5 of the space to be reserved for non-affiliated, the impact would be interesting...

since both Affliated and Non-affliated Cut-off-point also the same at 220, then more worthwhile to become an affliated pupil of SCGS, since affliated students fall under 80 percent privileged advantaged group
