      https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/education/about-6-of-students-likely-to-not-finish-ip

In response to queries from The Straits Times, the Ministry of Education has revealed that around 6 per cent of students leave the IP before graduation.

It also revealed that of those who complete the six years leading to the A levels or the International Baccalaureate exams, less than 5 per cent fail to qualify for local universities.

MOE explained that the IP may not be the best route for everyone. \"There could be a small number who may not find this to be the most suited to their strengths and learning styles,\" it said.

Which is why we find plenty of 250s and 260s opting for the standard Express stream.

The most impt thing is to aim to score well for stellar results in whatever the kids are doing..... every one will rather have a 6 A1s o level cert than to be in IP and then end up not doing well...... no point.....

If secondary school posting results is out on 20 Dec 2019, when does the appeal period start, assuming student met the cop? Is it start on 20 or 23 Dec 2019? How long is the window period for appeal last year? Thanks.

Period of appeal, for Secondary 1 admission intake

is indicated inside the appeal form or website

            Criteria, for Appeal -
Candidates must first meet the Secondary school's Cut-off point, first

            1)

            sample
            Nanyang Girls High Appeal form

            last year (2018) batch

            batch window period for Appeal,
start 19 December (9 am), to 20 December (5 pm)

            https://www.nygh.edu.sg/events/ay2019-sec-1-posting

            2)
            sample
            RGS appeal period

            start (begin) from

            S1 posting date (2 pm)

            To

Year 1 Reporting date (4.30 pm)

            E.g.

But, if you have accepted DSA offer, or Wait-list successfully converted into a CO, MOE said not allowed to appeal

              Hi,
would like to enquire whether any one of you are aware of any other scholarship or bursary (besides the MOE one) that I can apply for?
I have 3 school going children and household income is not very high.

              Thank you
There will definitely be all forms of bursaries available. Different school hv different support available but the government has came out to say that all deserving children can afford the high level of school fees of the independent schools. I am confident of it cause my child's mthly fees is $300+ but he receives these support and I paid like less than $10/mth.

For Appeal into Sec 1 intake - some Secodary schools like Catholic High expect P6 students to write up, 300 words, reasons behind why want to Appeal

Thank you for the info. Looks like appeal period starts on posting date usually, and not reporting date, based on last year’s timeline. So those going overseas perhaps should touch down latest by 19 Dec 2019 this year as earliest date of school posting is 20 Dec 2019.

Was discussing school choices with friends yesterday and they were worried as kids are of 230 to 250 range, depending on which way it swings. So the issue came up what if suddenly heng heng gets 256 and maybe can try appeal to cedar and DHS now and hence wondering when is the appeal period usually…

You can only appeal to schools whose COP you have met.
Hence, if they heng heng gets 256, they can put them as first choice leh.

Yeah not too bad for those staying in the east actually. If it swings the other way between 230 to 245, still have:

                        Temasek Sec
                        Ngee Ann Sec
                        Tkgs
                        TKss
                        Ahs
                        cchm
                        Katong convent
                        And etc choices…

Fingers crossed can heng heng strike 256 now so that can have more choices…
