Meet-The-Parents Session

Hahaha...I know that...Most parents are trying to be diplomatic.
One of the thing which I find amusing when I had my PTC with the parents, the first question most of the asked was - Is my child behaving in class?
Oh...dear. No wonder ds teacher was laughing when I posed this question. But only difference is that I ask at the end of the PTC. I was afraid good results will give ds excuse of misbehaving in class.

EN,
Well I guess from now on, most of us will have an idea of why a teacher may grin when this question is asked....

Its the meet parents season!!!
I wonder what kind of questions you guys and ladies will discuss when you meet the teachers? :?
My gal is in Nursary (4yo tis yr). I have my first experience last year. it is a short session with the teacher do most of the talking.... Your gal is doing very well..... very attentive.... fast learner.... etc etc... Before I know it, it ended.
I hope this coming session will be a more fruitful one.
I am hoping to learn more from the teachers how my gal do in class, what areas of improvement, how can I help.... etc etc.
I am not good in asking Qns.
Do share what kind of questions you will discuss with the teachers, really wan to know how to get more info out of this discussion.
Thanx Thanx!! -

since your kid is in p1 you might wana ask if she is adapting well in class, like does she always look happy or sad or indifferent. Then ask what's the school policy (esp on homework) for p1 because p1 is like a transition period. Just my opinions.Hi Bowie,

Actually you can ask questions like \"Does she have many friends?\" or \"What does she do during recess?\" kind of questions, as this will indicate if she is getting along well with classmates. my DS is in P1 this year, and there was a PTC (Parent teacher conference) the other day. I found out that he was not going to the canteen during recess and instead staying in class. It's kinda like he's not socialising enough. If she has the same prob as my DS, then maybe you need a good talk.Hi Bowie,

I, on the other hand, LOVE to meet the teachers !
My first P1 PTM coming too! I would expect to go with the teachersโ flow of conversation - understand most importantly, their observations of DS, strengths & focus areas, his relative academic standard etc. Honestly parents should not know them all first hand during the PTMs - should have known these (at least 80%) through your own interactions with your kids. PTMs should be reaffirmation of what you already know or to raise concerns, if any. -
P2 PTC today and I already know what the Form teacher is going to say...she's written them in the Report Book :?
I think my question would be \"so what is being done in school?\" on the behavioural \"issue\" she's brought up. Then I will give my 2 cents worth wrt working together to solve such issues.
All the best, mummy's and daddy's...take the comments with a pinch of salt but don't be suffering from delusion too. The teachers mean well but in a group of 28 - 30 kids, unlikely that he/she gets the kind of attention your child gets at home. -
Attended my P2's PTM this morning. There was one comment by the teacher which bothered me. She says my son needs to brush up on his writing skills coz she thinks that he has this large reservoir of vocab which he isn't utilizing. Then the next moment, she acted very surprised that I did not help/guide my son in his journal writing. \"He wrote all those himself?\" Such a contradiction. If I had helped, would it still have been so bad meh? :?
I can't help it if my son does not allow me to read his journal, in fact I secretly read it this morning before he woke up to see what he has written. Think I will just leave it as it is, journal writing is personal and it's ok for him to express what he wants - even if it is in not-so-good English.
