since your kid is in p1 you might wana ask if she is adapting well in class, like does she always look happy or sad or indifferent. Then ask what's the school policy (esp on homework) for p1 because p1 is like a transition period. Just my opinions.Hi Bowie,

Actually you can ask questions like \"Does she have many friends?\" or \"What does she do during recess?\" kind of questions, as this will indicate if she is getting along well with classmates. my DS is in P1 this year, and there was a PTC (Parent teacher conference) the other day. I found out that he was not going to the canteen during recess and instead staying in class. It's kinda like he's not socialising enough. If she has the same prob as my DS, then maybe you need a good talk.Hi Bowie,

I, on the other hand, LOVE to meet the teachers !
My first P1 PTM coming too! I would expect to go with the teachers’ flow of conversation - understand most importantly, their observations of DS, strengths & focus areas, his relative academic standard etc. Honestly parents should not know them all first hand during the PTMs - should have known these (at least 80%) through your own interactions with your kids. PTMs should be reaffirmation of what you already know or to raise concerns, if any. -
P2 PTC today and I already know what the Form teacher is going to say...she's written them in the Report Book :?
I think my question would be \"so what is being done in school?\" on the behavioural \"issue\" she's brought up. Then I will give my 2 cents worth wrt working together to solve such issues.
All the best, mummy's and daddy's...take the comments with a pinch of salt but don't be suffering from delusion too. The teachers mean well but in a group of 28 - 30 kids, unlikely that he/she gets the kind of attention your child gets at home. -
Attended my P2's PTM this morning. There was one comment by the teacher which bothered me. She says my son needs to brush up on his writing skills coz she thinks that he has this large reservoir of vocab which he isn't utilizing. Then the next moment, she acted very surprised that I did not help/guide my son in his journal writing. \"He wrote all those himself?\" Such a contradiction. If I had helped, would it still have been so bad meh? :?
I can't help it if my son does not allow me to read his journal, in fact I secretly read it this morning before he woke up to see what he has written. Think I will just leave it as it is, journal writing is personal and it's ok for him to express what he wants - even if it is in not-so-good English. -

My opinion on a P2 student writes journal is that the main purpose of journal should be let student to have a good habit of writing, to improve his/her composition skill. Thus, teacher ask parents to guide kids.Attended my P2's PTM this morning. There was one comment by the teacher which bothered me. What is your boy's school? It's so good that teacher ask them to write journal...my girl's school never ask them about it...I forced my girl to write journal, but she can not insist on it. -
I will be attending DS's !st PTM tomorrow and looking forward to it.
Previously no-show for his preschool's sessions.. ..
Hope there are no big surprises awaiting us

agree. and in addition, many parents esp kiasu ones should have already communicated with teachers on issues (academically or non-academically) since day 1 as nowadays teachers are more accessible thanks to sms, email etc.
actually PTM provides a good opportunity for parents networking to find out how other kids cope with afternoon session as ds seems to look tired after school.
second, we can know more about the buddy of your kids through talking to their parents....

I think ur son is lucky to have an understanding mom like u...... if it's me who has gotten the invite.....wah think I wld have reacted very differently hahaha
My Sec 4 son's PTC originally also this Thursday but I waived off the meeting as similarly, I don't think there's much that I don't know about my son that the teachers can tell me. However, yesterday one of his teachers called me and requested to meet my son and I together for him to go through with my son 'seriously' in front of me about the importance of the upcoming O levels. I told my son about this and to my surprise, he was visibly upset about the arrangement and told me he doesn't like the teacher to talk 'bad' about him in front of himself and me. He told me to turn down the teacher's request for meeting. I pondered for a while and decided that I would not attend the PTC. I can imagine the teacher talking most of the negative things about my son, those standard phrases of 'must be more attentive / more hardworking / more serious / you are weak in this, weak in that so must...etc / etc', those that my son closes his eyes also can recite kinds. I spare the 'humiliation' for him in a way coz I know exactly how 'heavy' he is in terms of his academics and I don't need a teacher to demean him any further (tho I know the teacher is with good intention)...
