I remember how my DS struggled with these types of questions…what more if it’s not multiple choice? He’s set to take his PSLE next year but somehow, I’m afraid he’s not yet ready, especially when answering open-ended questions. What to do???
Consider a tutor or go thru assessment book answers together to analyse how to craft the answers.
      All the best!

My DD had the same problem last year. She was doing poorly in Section B, getting almost failing marks. I came across Ace Scorers (http://www.acescorers.com.sg), Joyous Learning (http://www.joyouslearning.com.sg) and CCE (http://www.cce.education) from various suggestions in this forum. I have just signed-up for one of the open-ended questions and crossing my fingers.

I agree…Ace Scorers is quite good. Their teachers explain fully enough the questions and how the answers come about. However, sometimes I feel there are sessions with a high teacher-student ratio. I wonder if the teachers can still focus on each student’s needs even when they’re in a group. But otherwise, it’s all good.

That’s what I wonder too. Do tuition centers follow the same formula or they have different ones? I personally believe a student won’t survive primary school is he can’t think on his own. Not just academics but life in general. I think parents should focus more on how to teach their kids how to think until they figure out the correct answers on their own.

Similar steps, sometimes named differently. Schools do the same.

I’m quite keen on CCE as my nephew’s results improved by some marks from his previous test and the open-ended part of the exams has clear improvements. But I couldn’t get my DS as the timing is not suitable, so I’m just with education.

think you’ll agree with me when I say: It’s REALLY hard to score well in the open-ended section of the PSLE Science Paper, even when my child knows what the Science concepts are.

Hi parents, after attending the section B course for your child, did anyone sign up for their regular tuition class? Is it going to be enough to join the section B class and not need to attend their regular tuition and the results can improve?

Hi, some of the open ended course offers good follow-ups, the one my DD attended will send worksheets and marked with feedback, so they can be familiarized with the technique which i find good. From my research, not every course offers that.

I find the course sufficient but i still sign up for the tuition program as it's very good materials and my DD enjoys the experiments.
