Did a lot of ppl get 250 and above in ur school? In my school there’s 27... is that considered a lot or no?

Not bad, just to benchmark, Qi Fa Primary School (West Coast) has 32 students scoring above 250.

IMHO, comparison is meaningless. There are many factors involved, some unique and localized to the school. There are a number of schools that consistently produce > 80 students (or 25% of their cohort) scoring above 250.

use 2018 & 2019 cop as reference
u will find some sch COP diff is as high as 5 to 6 pts

but 2018 cop is more norm like previous yrs
dunno what happen in 2019 ( many feel it is easier n more managebale papers, means more avg /slight abv avg kids score well n push up cop)

Maybe :
first two choices - as wish sch ( 233 , 234, 235 )
next 4 choices as releasitc choices ( 233, 231.230
Thanks a lot for your kind suggestions.I felt the same way that suddenly many schools jumped high score this year( I mean actually 2018 Plse cop). Trembling....

The last choice, you may have to go as low as the 220s to be safe.

Frankly, any of the 230s school would be good for the child. While none of them are probably “branded”, they are also not weak / poor schools.
I want to put one or two 22x school to keep safe... very struggling don’t know which to choose. So big gap. Gan Eng Sen in my generation was a good school... considering...

Hello, I am new.

Just want to hear from some mummies here / school of thoughts for sec school with a wide COP vs a smaller range of COP.

~ wide range better/ narrow range

My personal tot: Maybe that wide range, eg. 220-254. Maybe that school only have 1 student 254.

Anyone good in analysing such to interpret?
:thankyou:

233 can get into quite a number of secondary schools. I think proximity is important, perhaps u can focus on proximity then Look for the right schools with reference to previous year’s COP.

Does anyone know about appeal process for psle? Asking for my relative’s kid. Got one subject really shocking. Specifically, if they appeal, is there a chance t score might come back even lower? Of course, we are hoping for higher, and that subject go up one grade. Tried looking at moe FAQ, but it did not provide details.

There’s a reason why “analysts” 😂 would prefer to look at median t-score instead of range of students’ t-scores or COP. You can get the info from MOE’s SIS.

As an example, you can look at Whitley for an example of a wide range of t-scores: 188 to 251 and Punggol as an example of a narrow range: 201 to 233.
Median of Whitley is 207 while Punggol median is 205.
If both schools are of a similar size, Whitley may actually have a stronger cohort despite having a much lower COP.

You can also contrast the above with Guangyang Sec, another school with a wide range of t-score: 188 to 251. Median is 203. If schools are of a similar size, Guangyang’s cohort could be the weakest of the lot, despite having a similar range as Whitley.

The reasons for the above are varied but location, familiarity seems to be a big factor.

P/S: why only mummies can answer?

You have to appeal though the school. There’s an appeal fee to be paid.

However, I have never known of any successful appeal that manages to change the outcome of the result - original result / paper had already gone though 3 rounds / markers that the likelihood of them making an error is extremely low, almost zilch.
