I think the question would be in what field?

There is no central authority that assesses or accords recognition to degrees for employment into the Public Service. In general, degrees from universities accredited by the home government of the country where the university is located will be considered for appointment into the Public Service. This applies to degrees obtained full-time or part-time, through distance learning or twinning programmes etc. Each public service agency decides on the skills required for their respective jobs, and qualification may be one proxy for the required skills. For overseas professional qualifications, agencies will check whether these are recognised by the relevant professional bodies in Singapore.

MOE does not restrict your choice of university, so long as the university is of reputable standing. The course of study should be rigorous and provides relevant subject content for you to teach at the secondary school or junior college level. We welcome you to discuss your choice of university and country of study with our scholarship officers.

          Law
          http://www.minlaw.gov.sg/content/minlaw/en/practising-as-a-lawyer/approved-universities.html
Foreign-qualified lawyers who pass the FPE can apply to the Director of Legal Services under section 36B of the Legal Profession Act for registration to practise in permitted areas of Singapore law. The permitted areas would include areas such as banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions and intellectual property law. Foreign lawyers must have at least three years of relevant legal practice or work, which may be gained in Singapore or overseas, before they can apply to sit for the FPE.

            Thank you zeit.

Am looking at Science degree, eg Chemistry, Biotech, Food Science etc. Since professional bodies recognition is not required, should be fine if it is a Project 985/211 or their MOE recognised university?

Yes, because of govt funding, these Double First Class 985/211 universities have better facilities.

I think Tianjin University and East China Science & Tech University are top in Chemistry according to Zhihu.

                https://www.ecust.edu.cn/

Otherwise, Xiamen, Wuhan, Sichuan are also ok.

It's important to pick a city that the child can live in. Tianjin is very liveable. There're Singaporeans there and it's very near to Beijing.
East China is smack in bustling Xuhui in Shanghai, so the student won't feel lonely.

                    Looking at Xiamen and Wuhan.

Also looking at Xi’an Jiao Tong Liverpool University but am not sure it is recognised. It is recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

A friend recommended University of Nottingham Ningbo as well.

No offense to anyone, but one thing I don’t like about China universities is that many of them have adopted facial recognition technology to mark students’ attendance. China’s beginning to turn ‘Orwellian’ under the current president. Everything’s cashless and paid through Alipay, etc and even applying a China mobile no requires you to let the telco take your frontal+side portraits. They are keeping track of your every move. I dislike this sort of learning and working environment.

Another thing is, be prepared that the child will start to develop that ‘China mindset’ after spending her tweenage years with the Chinese who are known to be extremely nationalistic. I don’t like my teenager to be moulded in that Neo-Maoist manner. There are many signs that China is going left and reviving Maoism.

I still prefer western universities that promote democracy & freedom, and if not SG ones are also good.
