            I got 258 T Score. I would like to try RI (boys)based on last 2 years cut off point..Any suggestions?

              There’s a reason why “analysts” 😂 would prefer to look at median t-score instead of range of students’ t-scores or COP. You can get the info from MOE’s SIS.

              As an example, you can look at Whitley for an example of a wide range of t-scores: 188 to 251 and Punggol as an example of a narrow range: 201 to 233.
              Median of Whitley is 207 while Punggol median is 205.
              If both schools are of a similar size, Whitley may actually have a stronger cohort despite having a much lower COP.

              You can also contrast the above with Guangyang Sec, another school with a wide range of t-score: 188 to 251. Median is 203. If schools are of a similar size, Guangyang’s cohort could be the weakest of the lot, despite having a similar range as Whitley.

              The reasons for the above are varied but location, familiarity seems to be a big factor.

              P/S: why only mummies can answer?

                1) To be eligible for Third Language, candidate got to be top 10% in psle aggregate - Is this an official criteria for eligible stated by MOE?


                2) It’s good to acquire another language but I’m not sure if my daughter is able to cope… i) Does she has to take through her just 4yrs or 6yrs IP? Can she drop the 3rd language if she realise the load is overwhelming? iii) Does taking/dropping 3rd language has any implication to L1R5?

                  Generally, most students would benefit if their score is close to the median, i.e. they are not too strong and not too weak relative to their cohort. Since schools typically set their pace according to the strength of their cohort, the student is unlikely to have to slow down considerably for their weaker school mates or to speed up to catch up with their stronger mates.

                    Someone told me this. If school cohort is strong, they will be using New Syllabus Mathematics which is meant for above average students.


                    If weaker intake, school will use Discovering Mathematics. From the textbooks books they use, will roughly know the standard.

                    I prefer school with closer median. If possible, will avoid schools that takes in affiliate students at 188-200 for Express stream. Unless students are streamed by ability, learning pace will be slowed down.

                      everyone has his or her own approach but here's my personal take on how to use the 6 choices for non-affiliated students:
                      (1) start with the 6th choice instead of the other way round. put a \"guarantee, confirm plus chop\" safety net choice (let's say 12 points below the child's T-score) tat u can still accept (or barely accept). By doing so, at least u avoid the situation where all 6 choices were unsuccessful n u let MOE decide ur fate (which was wat happened last year to many students)
                      (2) use 1st choice for super dream school, can try even if it seems out of reach becos fortune favours the bold, right?
                      (3) use 2nd choice for a 50/50 chance dream school
                      (4) put serious and long thoughts into the 3rd, 4th and 5th choices for realistic schools within the reach of the child's T-score

Thanks[/quote]on page 9 of \"Choosing your Sec Sch 2020\" issued by MOE to all parents, under section 8.4b, it is clearly stated that \"If your child is in the top 30% of the PSLE cohort who have taken Higher Chinese at the PSLE, they will be given bonus points for admission to SAP schools\"
                        and under section 10.1 & 10.2, it is stated \"A student with a better aggregate score will be considered for admission first, subject to the availability of vacancies in the selected school\".
