So the system will on-hold John's 1st choice for School A, till allocate all the place to Clare, Ken and Amy? If there is balance of place then only allocate to John?

Technically the system will not \"hold-on\" to anyone's choices. It will allocate one by one based on t-score, starting from the highest. After allocated schools for 238, 231, 230... and finally reach 228, if there is place remaining, it will allocate 228 (Ken)'s first choice to School A, otherwise it will look at Ken's second choice (e.g., School B). If got place, allocate B, if not, it will look at Ken's third choice School C, etc. etc. Once Ken has been allocated a school, the system will go to the next person e.g., 227.

Basically, it is merit over choice between students. The system will allocate school to the highest t scorer, then the second highest, and then the third highest, going down the list.

So those students that have lower T-score will have to wait till all the highest T-scorers allocated then only their turn. 😢 😢 😢
Understood now. Thank you mummy ng
Yep, that's how it works.... most welcome 🙂

came across a listing on affiliated JCs to some secondary schools…I wonder what differences would that make for a secondary school with an affiliated JC as compared to one that has none? Is that an important consideration?

Does anyone know if MGS IB accepts student from another IP school during Y3 admission? What is the rate of admission? And what is the number of students from MGS O levels successfully transferred to IB at Y3?
Yes they do accept students from other IP schools. Interview, essay and academic results.

Contemplating between Nan Hua High & Catholic High (O level) as first & second choice. My boy’s score is 250. Any comparison or feedback for these 2 schools? Thanks in advance!

MKS, this article:-
https://mothership.sg/2015/10/junior-college-cut-off-points-are-out-3-points-needed-to-get-into-rj-and-hci/
may be of help explaining affiliation. Scroll to the table called Computation of Bonus Points, see No4.

If you Google JAE Information Booklet 2019, you can find an updated table (similar to that one posted in mothership) on Pdf Page21.

nobody pre-set the T-score to qualify for IP.

Based on historical COP data, 252 has a good chance of getting into the IP courses at TJC, SJC or RV.
But if this year's cohort did very well (hypothetical situation, dun scare yourself huh), it is possible tat 253 is the minimum COP to get into any IP course, leaving students with score of 252 unable to get into any IP school.

This being said, does that mean that someone who scores less than 250, for example
240 - 249 can also choose IP in their choices?

As JC students studying in Eunoia Junior College at temporary Mount Sinai site is ready to shift into awesome, brand new premises at Bishan Park, end of this year (2019),
probably, COP to join Sec 1 2020 (IP) into (SCGS, St Nick and Catholic High) may rise

last year (2018) batch COP for

St Nick (IP) = 255

Catholic High (IP) = 254

SCGS (IP) = SCGS (OP) = 252

====================

St Nick (OP) = 253

Catholic High (OP) = 251
If based on Prelim results (Total aggregate x 0.75), How far is the PSLE results compared to Prelim? Can someone share some statistic? Mine is +14

My youngest child is +40.
I find it strange that teachers like to use this predictor. It does no good whether prediction is high or low.
Thankfully his older sibs were all +30-+40
Otherwise he wld be so demoralised.

Are they in the same Pri sch?
Does it mean this Pri sch set tough prelim papers?

Both my boys prelims to psle were 0.72.
Yes they are all from the same pri sch. A small unknown nbh school : )
Their sch papers are not particularly hard but we do find the other school papers pretty doable.
They don’t really bother with their school’s prelims. Just treat it like a practice. My boys will just anyhow write their essays and get 24-25/40 for prelim.
My children are like this in sec n JC also.
They only focus when necessary. Very bad attitude I must say.
When I saw my oldest JC prelim results, I was prepared for him to redo his A levels.
Raising such kids is not good for my heart.
