I read the S1 sec school posting exercise booklet, Page 12 Clause 10.2, it says that John and Mary both have same T-scores. John put School A as 1st choice and Mary put School A as 3rd choice. John doesn't have priority over Mary. Since both have same T-scores, how they allocate?

Many of my friends said is CHOICE before MERIT because the student choose it as 1st choice. I am confuse over this with clause 10.2.

In that John n Mary example, it will be decided by computerised balloting.
Do read page 12 carefully. It is crystal clear tat posting is based on merit n choice does NOT override Tscore.

Both J and M will be accepted if they meet cop, else if not meeting cop both will not get the last vacancy.
I suspect When it comes to last few slots, sch either accept all with same tscore (even if exceed last vacancy by 2-3) or reject all with same tscore (sch will leave the last 2-3 slots vacant)
Anyone came across real cases (not hearsay) of 2 students with the same tscore (all else equal like citizenship) but one made it while the other got rejected?
Sorry to keep harping on this point, but i really need to clarify about your statement on \"....will be accepted if they meet COP...\" There is NO, i repeat NO, cop to meet.
Why? Becos the school NEVER, EVER pre-sets a COP. In this John and Mary example, they are fighting for the LAST vacancy in that school. John n Mary have the same T-score, n whoever of these 2 enters the sch, their common Tscore will become the COP of this sch for this year. Becos John n Mary r both S'porean citizens n have exactly the same Tscore, the computerised ballot will decide whether it is John or Mary tat enters the sch.

Thanks for the responses.

Yes, I do agreee re the fees and distance. Honestly, son missed the ESIS by 2 marks. Or will there be a new cut-off after the allocation to independent schools? Thats what the booklet says.

Please advise.

Just can not remember which post mentioned better to have the last choice more buffer for T score. Actually I didn’t. My son was one of Those expected 25* or at least 24*, in the end got 23*. If give more buffer like last year 225, there are not many choices near. Just curious if fail all 6, express still can be posted to express course l, isn’t it?

The most important, as pointed out by Timmy (I think) earlier, is ... settle your last #6 choice. As long as your #6 choice can catch your girl back, is fine

At 250, she is right at the Top of All OP schools range, except for some dual track OP schools. That means your girl literally can choose or go to any OP school

But the reverse, also true.
At 250, she is at bottom of the IP schools range. (Sorry, for my frankness)

If you put 1st choice, SCGS (IP), knowing that 252 was last year 2018 COP, if suddenly this year 2019 SCGS (IP) COP drop 2 points down to 250, then can enter

Yes, for 1st choice school :
select one, that is (+3 to +5 points) range higher than whatever your Tscore is. This is the advice often given by primary schools, inside some of their school slides.

Ya. I understood what u explained here. Studied so hard n so hopeful to enter her dream sch but after getting results she was so sad. Her bottom line is to enter IP sch like her elder bro. Now only hope seem to be only RV.

Hi, does anyone know about the school hours for Victoria School? For Sec 1, How many days in a week are their long hours, say till 5pm or so? Does any of your dc travel from sengkang/punggol to VS?
Checked public transport, the fastest route would be nel to serangoon then change to circle line and drop at paya lebar to change to 135 or 155 and its 16 stops to the school. Is the jam along the stretch bad in the morning, would anyone know?.Thank you so much in advance!

We tried 135 last evening to the Katong area and ended up at vjc in the end. Both going there and back seemed to have quite moderate traffic. But it's the only time I've been there.

Thanks so much! we'll try to reccee the area tomorrow but the traffic wldn't be \"real\" cos' its sch holidays already. thanks again.

Yes will still be posted to express. However, if the cop of all your 6 choices are higher than your child's score, then MOE will allocate your child to any available school with Express course.

2) It’s good to acquire another language but I’m not sure if my daughter is able to cope... i) Does she has to take through her just 4yrs or 6yrs IP? Can she drop the 3rd language if she realise the load is overwhelming? iii) Does taking/dropping 3rd language has any implication to L1R5?

Can drop the 3rd language if she feels overloaded. No penalty. My first son dropped French in Sec2.

Elder dc never took up at all. No harm trying.
Exactly my thots! Since no need pay extra, just buy textbooks, learn some basic 3rd language also not a bad idea...

You may refer to the COPs over the past 8 years (excel sheet in page 716).

Your child meets the RV COPs 5 out of 8 years.

Good lucks to your child!

Hi, does anyone know for VS IP vs VS OP, how many classes are there for each? and does the sch emphasize more on IP than OP? Looking at VS OP.

Thank you in advance!
