Hi
can check whether are there CA for P1 and P2 in ACS (primary)? -
Thanks angeliatay and 2bbtang! Feel more reassured to send my boy to ACSP after reading your posts. Yes, distance is also an issue with me - I live in the east. But if the school is good, I’ll put up with the inconvenience. Thanks again.

when will yr boy start pri 1?
i am staying SengKang and i think it really takes forever to reach ACJS or ACPS…
Hb is from acjs… so does this means that i hv to enrol my boy in acjs? and not acps?

My boy is enjoying school every day! Is a joy and blessing watching him look forward to go school. Even though he has his fair share of being \"scolded\" or even \"punish\".. well..boys are boys.. they just started P1, there's a lot to learn... school rules, class rules, the do's and don'ts... testing his boundaries...etc
As far as I know for the donation in ACSJ. Hmm... they don't need any fundings / donations from external source. Their fundings from the current boys, old boys and supports from internal resources are more than enough. Just to share, just a month ago, my cousin who son will be P1 in 2011, she also tried calling the school to find out if she could get into earlier phase like 2B and even offer to give donation for a slot but was turned down flat straight politely. So, I don't think that statement could be true. For the other school like Nanhua, I do heard of such amount is accepted..but I'm not sure how true is this.
Reading by P1. Yes, this is very importantly that your child must be able to read by then. Chief has posted some important list that your child must be equipped by P1 http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=117
Hope this can help you to prepare your child.
Cheers! -

Hi 2bbtangJust to share an update.
2008 2B Phase for
ACS Primary (Barker Rd).
Anglo Chinese School (Primary) has places only for children who have registered in the school and are living within 1km of the school. Therefore, children living outside 1 km of the school are unsuccessful in their registration. No balloting will be conducted in Anglo Chinese School (Primary).
ACS Junior
After Phase 2A, left 61 for Phase 2B.
Balloting required for those > 2km.
There are a total of 49 registered who are more than >2km. And there are only 27 vacancies available.
Out of the 27, there are a pair of twins. Thus, if one of the twin is been selected, the other twin will also be in naturally.
I'm so happy that my boy is in!!!!! Butterfly knots when they are doing the balloting!!! Phew! Thank GOD!!!!
can i check with u about what u mentioned on ACSJ 2008 balloting? You mentioned there were 61 vacancies left for Phase 2B. Did u mean Phase 2C?
I called the school before I chanced upon this and was told:
Phase 2C: 61 vacancies
49 given to < 1km
12 remaining for 1km to 2km : balloted as there were 16 applicants -
2bbtang:
After Phase 2A is over, there were a total of 122 vacancies left. Thus, 61 spaces were allocated to Phase 2B and the remaining 61 were for phase 2C.Just to share an update.

Thanks Angelia. I'm new to this. So do schools allocate an equal number of spaces to Phase 2B and 2C? Or is this ACSJ example just a coincidence?

just to say I am a close follower of this topic, and super interested in how angeliatay's and 2bbtang's sons fare in acs! Will be good if other acs parents could chip in and share their (and sons') experiences with acsj and/or acsp, so first-timers like us can learn and understand more!
heh, i'm a kiasu one too - my son is coming to three, and we are thinking of moving to within 1km of either ac-school. Parents, please pile your valuable experiences here

No..that's the way the allocation is made after Phase 2A. It's the same for all schools.
