      depend on individual school

Some schools will let Sec 1 students know which class they have been allocated to, when school Term open on (2 or 6 ) Jan 2020, while

other schools’ Sec 1 Form Tr will bring students to their Sec 1 classroom, play some ice-breaking game, go round the class one by one, like briefly introduce yourself to the whole class, from which primary school u come from (although u can see from the uniform they wear), what u like, etc. Stay alert, if Form Tr bring u to your Sec 1 classroom, usually there is a class name list hung on the notice board just outside your classroom, or hung on a wall inside your classroom. You can take a snapshot of your own Sec 1 class name list.

Some schools also put the Sec 1 class allocation, inside "Parents Gateway" application. You can login, using your singpass account to check. Eg. Raffles Girls’ Secondary do this way.

Most Sec schools will give out individual school class Time table, when school Term open, 2020

Dd’s Chinese tutor asked to check if planning to continue lessons for sec 1… DD has always liked her lessons for the past 2 years with her and we are very grateful for her support throughout the entire preparation process for PSLE… Dd got a decent grade in the end and she want to opt for higher Chinese in sec sch. I’m thinking of letting her try to study herself in sec 1 instead of having tuitions like in pri sch but afraid that she can’t cope with the rigor in sec sch hcl… Heard that it’s very tough. My ds is still currently under the same tutor and has started preparations for P5 next year already. Any advice from parents on whether I should continue tuition for DD or shd I stop for a while and see DD can cope?

I think Esteema has given a very good analogy of a pupa trying to breakout from the cocoon, into a baby butterfly, try to flap the little wings

Sec 1 is a "honeymoon" year, out of the next 4 to 6 years ahead, No mid-year SA1 exam. This is the best time for them learn to be independent, manage their daily time table, studies workload. Sec 2 is a busy year, due to streaming at year end.

If forever they always rely on tuition Tr All the time, they will never be able to learn on their own, by themselves. Even if they try to learn on their own, made some mistakes here and there, it is all right, because it is from mistakes that they learn too.

Yes, tomorrow, your Sec school will give u a letter when register, inform status outcome of your 3rd foreign language applied.

In the event not successful for that language u applied for, eg. U applied for French, but did not get French allocated, then quickly appeal. On MOELC website, there is a form online. You can download to appeal, before closing date line and closing time.

3rd language lessons, commence on 2020 2nd week. For those who intend to appeal, act fast
