      Hi guys,

I’m new to this forum.my girl will be in primary 1 nxt year 2021.
I have a younger daugther in mK huamin..does this mean that i can register under phase 2A2 for my elder daugther at huamin primary or it is not applicable?

If its not applicable..that will mean i have to register under phase 2C. Both huamin and northland is within 1km from my place.based on the previous years statistics, both schools seem to have more applicants than vacancies.

Is it wiser to put huamin as my 1st choice as the figures are lesser than northland?

If my ballot is unsuccessful,i have to register under phase 2cs next?if so, does it mean that i can register at any schools that have vacancies even if its more than 2km from my place?

Hope to get some insights on this as i am clueless.do help me out.thank u! 🙂
The easy part: Phase 2A2 priority for MK is applicable to the student only. Not for his / her siblings. Thus, your older kid is in Phase 2C.

You stand a higher chance for Huamin than Northland for Phase 2C. If you are not successful for Phase2C, you proceed to Phase 2CS. Distance priority is applicable for all Phases, including phase 2C and 2Cs.

Here are the list of schools that increased their places. Some decreased. All these were announced by MOE very late (June 27):

i realise that monfort is reducing from 150 to 120 to 80 (for 2013 kids). Is the school closing down?[/quote]
May I know where this information was found? I read in sgschooling website that there were 120 vacancies in 2019 and 80 was allocated for phase 1. Or did i read the information wrongly?

We're residing between 1-2km away from monfort, but his grandparent is staying next to the sch. monfort was one of our choices. but if true, there's only 80 places, then that would make it hard to get a slot in 2C?

Fret not. Montfort still has 120 places.

The 80 places is a new way of presenting the info. 40 places has been taken out (reserved for 2A and 2B). Therefore, if you add 40 to 80, you will get 120 places.

              Should be 2B and 2C, not 2A and 2B.

Yes, thanks for the correction. I was testing to see if anyone was paying attention 😂

Does anyone know when will MOE release the number of places this year?

the number of horse babies is almost equivalent to dragon babies. wonder if MOE will adjust the intake accordingly.
Otherwise 2020 is going to be a hard year !

Typically when they announce the start of P1 registration ie May. That’s when you can see whether it’s a pleasant surprise or a WTF moment.

I doubt you will see any adjustments compared to 2019. Last year’s places already adequately cover this year’s demand. Note that MOE isn’t concern with parents preference for choice schools.

Clueless parent seeking advice on school selection for 2021 intake.

1.SC child in MOE Kindergarten at Waterway Pri School.
                      2. Within 1km of current address, there is Mee Toh and Horizon Pri School.
                      3. Preference is to put child in CHIJ OLN which is >2km from where i stay.

                      My plans:
                      1. Try either Mee Toh / Horizon Pri under phase 2C.
                      2. If the above fails, then try CHIJ OLN.
                      3. If the above fails, go back to Waterway Pri.

If i’m still hoping to try for CHIJ OLN, in comparison with the other schools mentioned, what are the odds since the rest are equally popular in the area?

If i try for CHIJ OLN, do i qualify under phase 2C (>2km) or phase 2C(S)? Should I just take a bet and directly try CHIJ OLN or not waste the chance for phase 2C (<1km) for Mee Toh / Horizon?

I was trying to figure the schools’ registration statistics on the table but can’t really figure it out.

Thanks in advance for any advice 🙇🏻‍♀️!

                        My suggestion:
                        1. Register Waterway Pri under Phase 2A2 (MOE K)
                        2. Watch the enrollment for Mee Toh, Horizon and CHIJ OLN in Phase 2C.

My gut feel is both Mee Toh and Horizon will ballot for SC < 1km and CHIJ OLN will ballot for SC > 2km.

If CHIJ OLN ballot in Phase 2C is for PR, you can make a dash for it. Otherwise, you have to decide which of 3 schools you want to ballot or is it better to stick to Waterway (especially if Waterway is also running low on places for Phase 2CS). You will have to withdraw from Waterway first, if you intend to register under Phase 2C.
