      In contrast, St Nick, also another SAP school, is cautious. If students do not do well in their 1st attempt at CL O-level paper in Y3, at least they still have another 2nd attempt to resit the following year, Y4
      Is this for OP or IP?

      It's more for OP students because of they take CL in Sec 3 and do well, they have one of the R5 secured. Then, these students can move forward to do HCL in Sec 4 in the hope of getting the two bonus points. If students don't do well in CL in Sec 3, they have two more chances to improve on their grades in Sec 4.

      In short, the aim is to help OP students in their L1R5. I don't understand how it will help the IP students by taking CL in Sec 3. :scratchhead:

        yes floppy, we already know that
        Then you would have understood the rationale as sky minecrafter and qms had explained.

            Er ....not all actually...nowadays in some schools, no need to take the Sec 3 O levels CL paper anymore. Just need to take the HCL O level paper in Sec 4 will do. For example, DHS, NYGH and RGS. I think SCGS too ( not sure)?
            NYGH used to require girls who are not performing well to take O levels CL paper in Sec 3 and then HCL O level paper in Sec 4 if they did well in CL paper. For NHHS, the better performing students will be asked to do O levels CL paper in Sec 3 and then HCL O level paper in Sec 4 if did well for CL paper (as qms mentioned earlier how this benefits the OP students).

              Oh I see. May I ask what is the criteria for ‘ not performing well’ ? B4 and below?

                  MSG >4 at Sec 2 would refer to a student that is going to SIP (O level class).

                    [/quote]if NYGH girls with MSG >4 at end of Y2 get streamed into SIP (O level class),
                    after they finish their O level & want to go Hwa Chong Junior College, do these girls have discount privilege, since they have studied in NYGH before previously ?

                    example
                    Hwa Chong 2019 COP to enter JC1, is 5 points

                    can these SIP NYGH girls after O level, enter Hwa Chong JC at a discount, say 7 points ?

                        I have no idea, I am not aware of any discount privilege.
                        I only know that there is a provision to move back to IP if the student do well in Sec 3 SIP.

                        To elaborate:
                        MSG = Mean Subject Grade (it is something like an “average “ of all the subjects that goes into the computation, not just based on a single subject)
                        A1= 1
                        A2 =2
                        etc
                        U take these grades and average out , giving u an MSG.
                        If a student’s MSG is more than 4 at Sec 2 , it would mean that the student is getting about C5 and below for a no of subjects at Sec 2?
                        If the student is able to overcome whatever obstacle that caused her to not do well in lower Sec, then she would be able to progress to Hwa Chong JC via doing well in SIP for Sec 3 and meeting the criteria for transferring back or doing well at the O levels at Sec 4.
                        I am not sure about DSA back into JC. It could be another option but i dont really know.

                        P/S : Personally, I would assess if progressing to the JC and taking the A levels is indeed a better option for my child.
                        If I think it will not be a favourable outcome at the A levels eventually, I would rather 及时转换跑道.
