      Hi,

Just sharing my experience, my gal in year 3 this year, for last 2 years, she really needs to use her handphone a lot, everyday there are many email send from school admin and teacher, submit school homework and survey, communication with classmates and CCA mates. In fact, I am buy a good handphone for her to improve the handphone efficiency.

In short, once you are in IP school, there is 2 things that your kid need to learn to survive: self discipline and time management. If by giving them Hp means they will play with it and not studying, you may start to worry are they suitable in fast and furious IP environment.

Nevertheless, it is just starting of their new journey, give them some time to adjust to the new school culture.

      Cheer

Ban mobile phone entirely to avoid distraction? Rather than embracing the technology positively? What about those who use mobile phones responsibly and not distracted and still excel in studies? Unbelievable!

Thanks 'ksks' for your thoughtful reply. I still feel that the teachers should not let the students use the handphone inside the classroom. That is my regret for not checking up DHS school policy on mobile usage before admitting my daughter there.

Can understand your concerns. I understand now generally there are a lot of communications for sec students with via emails, WhatsApp, or some apps that teacher uses. If there is need for mobile phone use, you can consider setting up parental controls so you can monitor your child’s usage until you feel comfortable your child is using it responsibly.

Dunman is an autonomous school as compare to independent school like HCI l, RGS, RI…etc.

What is the difference in turn of government funding? How about teachers recruitment?
How much school fee do you have to pay each month?

Yes, although the phone is necessary for Secondary school Whatsapp and emails, many students spend time watching videos as well. When my child was in P6, her classmates shared with her that they spend many hours watching YouTube videos.

Thanks ‘Tookies’, I have installed parental control app Qustodio. It is quite user friendly.
