      Hi 👋 Gentleman/or parents,

No intention of sending any negativity of CHS but did anyone experience some teachers in school that are educator, can talk but cannot teach or can teach but cannot deliver. 😆 just want to prepare myself mentally as a parent.

        Hi all,

My DS is p6 this year and thinking of DSA into CHS, using either Leadership or Math/Science domains. Would appreciate some advice:
        1) Assuming that the child is equally strong on leadership and math/science, which domain would it be better to apply under?
        2) How was the selection process for these domains?
        3) Any idea what’s the confirmed offers (CO) for these domains?

        Thanks!

does anyone have any idea on the background of past DSA students who successfully received CO under leadership/ track n field? how strong a leadership background or how high a ranking for track n field?

By the way , do the boys learn programming language in Sec 1 & 2?

During my son’s year 2014 when he was in Sec 1, compulsory to take Malay Language as an additional language enrichment:) No Exam though just an additional subject in timetable ..

Hi @hanhui, Malay language enrichment done in house? Abit like learning third language at the MOE language centre? Is this for O levels or IP? Is this still valid?

In CHS-Are there still sports classes in current times? Do all DSA students go there, regardless of how well they do in PSLE? How different is it-academics etc? I suppose the range of scores in this class will vary greatly than the rest?

Sorry for the late reply as I missed out on your question. Yes, Malay language enrichment was done in house during the curriculum hours. If I'm not mistaken, is an hour lesson weekly. My son was in the O level track, so I'm unsure if the IP students have this prog too. You may check with the school again during the open house in Nov to confirm if they are still offering the enrichment class to the Sec 1 boys. During my son's time, it was a compulsory subject to take.
As for your other question, the boys from DSA sports will be allocated in a class together regardless of their PSLE score. Hope it helps;)

So it sounds Malay language coverage is lighter than taking it as 3rd language, even though studied for a year.. No test then what is the objective at the end of the year? No follow ups and the kids will continue with usual subjects? Hmm...

How is the DSA sports class different from other classes? They still cover same subjects/ pace? Are there that many sports students they accept to form a class? Cause usually a class is like 30-40pax right?

It's shared by 1J2Ms on 14 Jul in DSA 2020 that there were both OP and IP boys who DSAed via Sports.

All the best to your boy!

my DS is in CHS year1 this year and there's 9 classes in year1 (I didn't check how many for the other levels)
there's 5 class IP and 4 classes OP.
They are all placed according to their strength, eg. he is in the class with all strong in Mathematics and Science. There's another class strong in languages (bilingualism), leadership, etc
I did heard my son told me about few boys he know were DSA in via Sports (have both in OP and IP). So I guess the school assess the kids on their academic ability too.
                      Hope this info is helpful.

Oh!! Thanks! But then it’s abit confusing when the tr mentioned sports only for OP... if there r indeed 1 IP and 1 OP sports class, that means that there might be so many boys to fill those classes? Do they take in so many students under sports? I saw they only have 10 sports under DSA..
