guess other UG also 1 day per wk? if GG is 1 day/wk. wonder if the commitment for GG is heavy compared to clubs as read that UG 'generally' is heavier, if I understand correctly. .or GG more popular coz its commitment is lighter than other UG?

Can kids that got rejected from GG join other UG that has vacancy if other UGs are generally not that popular, can we assume they have vacancies, for kids who didn't go for trial/audition/interview..

do GG need to go back on Saturday for training at HQ, occassionally ?
If Yes, then GG is not just once a week only

      where is the HQ

            yes, good to check, because
the 3 Uniform group in NYGH [Police NPCC, St John Brigade and Girl Guide], All have a HQ [Headquarter]

            https://www.nygh.edu.sg/cca_ny_curriculum

is best to obtain your GG Training Cca schedule from your GG Teacher-in-charge,
find out how often does the training fall on Saturday, at HQ [if any] ?

If the training falling on Saturday is not frequent, is all right [good].
But, if the training falling on Saturday is like alternate week type per month, means u should not schedule any Tuition lesson on Saturday, unless Tuition is in the late afternoon or evening, after your GG Cca is over on Saturday

before submit your choices of Cca, plan what Tuition u have in mind on Saturday, because
once the school allocated a Cca for your daughter, and after that u want to change Cca telling school that the Cca allocated clash with your girl's Tuition timing, school won't entertain these type of request

Thanks all for the feedback. I didnt know choosing cca so competitive in secondary schools! UG is a must in the form and it just sounds strange to me that the school choose you and if all 5 choices are taken up by better candidates, you have to be allocated to the balance…or if all of your preferred 4 choices are not given…u will.land up with UG …never cross DD mind to join a UG… so she has to start thinking. Although we get to change in Sec 2 if really don like, I suppose the options are even more limited at that level when everyone has settled in. …yesterday she was selected to go for Judo training after flipping over a senior. She was struggling to attend as she never thought of joining such sports but think now they have to keep an open mind. Seems not a choice in sec school. Thanks for sharing… so new to the system and everything so competitive at this level and fast too!

Judo is a strong cca in nygh. They are either champs or runner-up. Good to be chosen but then hor must watch the weight cos they split the girls into categories by weight so weight management is impt.

As far as I see, the Judo girls are quite well-built, probably an in-born thing and also because of physical contact, there are some amount of bodily injuries that the girls may sustain (eg dislocated shoulders) . Also, as the girls are being slammed as part of their training, be prepared to see bruises etc on their bodies.
