B) didn't your boss see so many people frantically go supermarket over last weekend, both within Singapore as well as go JB Malaysia Aeon supermarket (eg) stock up grocery, almost empty out the shelves ? The news, is reported everywhere

Doesn't all these, indicate the seriousness, grave scenario of the current situation ? Still go Air-show, for what ?
I wouldn't judge severity based on individual's behaviour and the \"news\" which is not always reliable. For large-scale events, it's up to companies' risk assessment - it may be more important for some to go than others, and I'm sure there will be fewer attending, from businesses and public, than normal. If a person feels that the company is being unreasonable, I guess they can complain to MoH. If everyone gives in to the worst-case fears, hunkers down at home and refuses to work, then schools will close, transport will halt, shops will stay closed (even if they have food inside), power and water will stop running... and who will work in hospitals and clinics? For the Air Show, it is work and business for some, not leisure.

How to say \"No\" to boss ?

Counter-ask the boss this question, regarding the consequences, of attending Air show
Eg

\"If go Air show\", come back unluckily sway sway get infected by the huge crowd there, go under quarantine by medical order, so that do not spread the virus to fellow colleagues inside office, hence cannot go office to work, nor cannot take the necessary work files out from office to work at home, because other team members involved in the same project also attended the same Air show and also need the same project work files, resulted in the team unable to deliver tight project schedule date line, how is the boss going to answer to customers, if failed to deliver project on time to customers ?

Also, counter-ask your boss -

A) the entire Singapore, already placed into Orange Zone, no more previous yellow zone

B) didn't your boss see so many people frantically go supermarket over last weekend, both within Singapore as well as go JB Malaysia Aeon supermarket (eg) stock up grocery, almost empty out the shelves ? The news, is reported everywhere

After China,
Singapore is now ranked #2
think visitors from overseas, want to come Sg, see Air show ?

E.g..

Sarawak already told her own country citizens that, whoever have come back from Singapore :
be quarantined, 14 days

News (Straits Times) report here

https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/coronavirus-self-quarantine-a-must-for-sarawakians-who-visited-singapore-says-dcm

Doesn't all these, indicate the seriousness, grave scenario of the current situation ?
still go Air-show, for what ?
No companies should not give in to paranoia .
They should reassess to check the importance of the air show and take a call.

Quite honestly, it is in open air, public are still using the public transport as the main means of commute even now. So I dont see it is an added threat.

Now I would understand other countries not wanting to send their employees to Singapore, and since the airshow is a big networking meet too, perhaps the benefits of the airshow would dwindle if many do not come. And that makes a case for cancelling the airshow.

Well put! The calls for shut down of schools, businesses etc indeed have v wide implications. Economy & life comes to a standstill!? For how long?

Who then are deemed \"essential to have to go to work\" to keep life going to have supply of essentials (medical, food, utilities, transport etc) for everyone else? What about these personnel's family life and interactions with each other, there would be exposure too amongst themselves (important consideration too!!), eg. who cares / looks after these personnel's children, if school, childcare etc shuts down?

Personally I feel that it's in such times, that thinking beyond ourselves, exercising responsible behaviour, and doing what we can (no matter how small a gesture) for others and our community will go a long way to limit the spread of the virus & ensuring that everyone pulls through together.

It is heartening to see how some individuals and groups have taken their own steps to voluntarily distribute masks, disinfectant to others, set up disinfectant in public lifts for use, distribute food & drinks to frontline care workers etc. Each in their own way, helping others to go through this period.

Definitely more constructive and productive, for instance rather then some questioning why certain public figures are wearing masks, or putting down efforts made. More constructive suggestions and hands-on measures to help others, would be more appreciated and productive?

Yes, indeed u have raised valid, good point. The key question is "Economy and life come to a stand still, but for how long ?" The world is ill prepared to manage virus out break, since 2003 SARS. How to solve root of the problem now, apart from waiting for vaccine ? Can educate people all over the world not to eat bats, wild life animal snake, rats, dog, cat, cricket, cockroach, spider, monkey, crocodile, wild boar meat etc ? Not just Chinese alone eat these stuff, some other countries too.

E.g. just saw a video, where this angmo chef in a restaurant in the West also cook cockroaches, spider, worms, cricket etc for their hotel guests to eat. And the guests are excited, thrilled to try.

Papua New Guinea, Philipines, Indonesia, etc. Also got people eat such stuff.

Will they listen, if tell them don’t eat?
SINGAPORE β€” More than 70 trade exhibitors have pulled out of the Singapore Airshow amid concerns over the new coronavirus and the number of public tickets available will be less than half of those on offer in 2018 to limit attendance, the show's organiser said on Sunday (Feb 9).

Some major exhibitors, including Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, have pulled out over the virus.

The organisers should cancel it for public safety. Even singers are cancelling their concerts.

fully concur.....
I second that.

The govt MUST NOT put the health of the people at risk!

The coronavirus outbreak that originated in Wuhan, China, has killed more than 900 people and infected over 40,000. I think, the spreading of the virus will not slow down any moment now but I hope so, for the mean time let us be vigilant and be extremely careful.
Already more than 1k deaths.

People are not asking everything to shut down.

But events like the air show which will attract large crowds and many foreigners to come in should be cancelled or postponed for the time being.

With ORANGE DORSCON, it already limits large gatherings, such as in all our schools.

Hence, no reason why the govt should allow the air show to carry on.

You forgot to mention chicken and ducks (bird flu), pigs (H1N1 or swine flu, Nipah virus), cows and sheep (mad cow disease)...
