I agree those death cases in Wuhan are more likely due to their healthcare system being extremely overloaded.

Let’s say, if Wuhan has a population of 11million and 67K are infected currently. Imagine Singapore with a 6 million population and 30K are infected, do we have enough beds and lung support machines to go around in NCID? If we reach that stage, whoever kena, probably like in China, will have to self heal at home.
What is the latest number of infected so far? More than 67 000 people ?

Wuhan will need to build 67 hospital, to treat the escalating number of infected cases. So far, Wuhan only built 2 hospital, not enough !

2 hospital can only treat Total 2000 infected patients, because only 2000 bed available vs. a whopping huge number of 67000 + infected awaiting. Clear case of insufficient medical facility, over loaded

For Sg, if self heal at home, the concern is that it may spread to the family members

It’s a kind disaster in the making!

Reminds me of Hello Kitty KS Singaporeans queue overnite. When crowd are in place, community spreads is possible. I’m just saying.

This is a kindness we must applaud, not criticise. It is hard to source for masks now. And how many of us is willing to give away 6,000 masks for free? What is the difference between this and collection of masks at Community Centre? The queue at CC took sometime also because they need to check our IC so it was quite long and a lot of people too.
Oh dear. Did you experience a lot wait?

I collected a couple of times at different cc on behalf of senior citizens. There was no q. Take temperature, show IC, check and collect. Less than 3 minutes. It was the same for my friends too.

SG’s ICU system right now is able to cope. All those deaths you read about in China are probably due to their healthcare system being extremely heavily overloaded. They have to queue hours in the cold just to get into the hospital. So the deaths are not because the virus is particularly fatal like SARS. It’s not.

Don't confuse Wuhan with the rest of China. Wuhan is just the 省会 of Hubei.

Currently, Wuhan has 武汉34289例 confirmed cases. Hubei province 48175例 confirmed cases. Entire PRC 截至2月14日24时,据31个省(自治区、直辖市)和新疆生产建设兵团报告,现有确诊病例56873例 confirmed cases.

          http://www.nhc.gov.cn/xcs/yqfkdt/202002/50994e4df10c49c199ce6db07e196b61.shtml

NCID has 330 beds (HEPA-filtered), but can be expanded to >500 in a crisis. Of the 330, 124 are NEP wards. So as of today, we should have a balance of 70 NEP beds (18 discharged, 54 remaining cases) if you're only talking about this NCID. There're other isolation wards in other general govt hospitals in Singapore.

GQF > 1,000. Not fully occupied yet.

I suspect it depends on individual, like what they allow MOH for press release. Noticed some are very vague and some very detailed, like where they have been, where they are working/living....etc
Perhaps the pastor deemed it's his responsibility to alert others who he had been in close contact recently but could not remember.

Pastor Wilson himself posted the news on his own FB. It's not that media or MOH wants to reveal his identity. We are not sure who's the super spreader, as CID/MOH are carrying out the contact tracing now.

              https://postimg.cc/mt14q3QC

I think before he owned up last night, I already read on ST online (13Feb, 5pm) details like Pastor, aged xx, stays at xxxx. Maybe he knows can’t hide anymore after this.

I wonder why for some patients they announce detailed info like #48 stays at Bukit Batok street 25, #49 stays Toh Guan Road, but did not mention some others like #50 stays where.

Indeed, some are vague, some are very detailed!
Is there a need for a pastor to \"own up\" like he has a motive to \"hide\" from his flock about his condition?
On the contrary, he sounded super positive and even took a selfie in his iso ward @ NCID to show everyone (in ST today)。 😂

He is known religious leader in the Christian network, esp the AOG network. Sooner or later, his congregants would know from the church grapevine before MOH formally held the press conference on 13 Feb. In fact, when #48 & #49 his staff were announced as confirmed cases a day earlier, his flock would have already found out. According to ST, he was tested positive on 11 Feb, but I believe he had to wait for MOH to give the green light before he could post his own internal statement on 13 Feb. 排队发布新闻 😆

The queue at CC took sometime also because they need to check our IC so it was quite long and a lot of people too.
There were other KSP here who testified no long queues at CC collection centers, and collection is based on NRIC. At mine & PIL’s centers, more than 3-4 tables were set up for each cluster of blocks & within a cluster of 10 blocks, there were at least 6 tables. Present i/c, sign, collect & leave in less than 5 min. There were no long queues

Announcements of 6,000 masks given out in two locations means abt 3,000 in each TPY or Hougang. But when there’s no “guaranteed” # Number of masks for each h’hold, ppl (SC, PRs, FT & others) will just queue up just to ensure they're within the 6K w/o having to account for using their NRIC.

Kindness shld be applauded, but I wished it can be organized specifically for those in low income housing areas, or for the elderly mostly in older estates & a good way might be to work with the neighborhood community officers who knows each case within their precincts. Off-hand, I can think of those living in Tanglin Halt, Chin Swee area, and yes, TPY older blocks. I might be wrong but many more in the northern part of SG too. Just my thots. Don’t hv to agree.

Kindness should be applauded. If the first reaction when see kindness is to criticise, what has our world become?

I hope nobody criticise what a 6-year old had done.

Had ST not published about #48, “according to a source, he is a pastor” first, would he need to come forth? Not about a motive to hide lah, just that he had a chance to stay anonymous but that choice was taken away from him by ST’s uneven reporting.

His flock would have already found out someone in AOG had been infected but that would be limited to a small group. The rest of us probably doesn’t know who he is. Similarly, the DBS uncle who cause DBS to evacuate 300, his colleagues probably know who he is, but we don’t know who he is. Then in this case, why not report his position?
