Did you 2 actually watch and understand the video and the Cantonese headline? Your comments don't gel with the gist and 'ayes' and thumbs-up below. 高B哥 thinks highly of Singapore's DPM-designate in this video and has given a positive interpretation/analysis of CCS' leaked remarks. Media slant is neutral but more towards positive.
He actually believes CCS (or his proxy) had deliberately leaked the video to let the pp of SG hear the hard truths. He sees CCS as a political 高手 who is so wise that he leveraged on HK sheeple's idiocy to send a coded message to SCs, cautioning them not to end up like HK because SG simply can't afford to.

Please read the Cantonese comments below which are mostly positive. HK posters agreed with CCS' comments on their govt and panic-buyers. 😂

There are a couple of other HK vloggers commenting on the leaked audio too, and most HK comments were all in favour of Singapore and CCS.

That’s being very positive. How about the comments about our “白痴政府“、”案例都比香港多”、about the Minister’s “词汇有限“、“没家教”?

Bertha Hanson’s comment on the matter was to the point, if the people were idiotic why not ask what triggered the people to behave in such a manner? The sudden escalation to DORSCON Orange without first preparing the ground and explaining what it meant. Why the insistence about the mask stockpile but without explaining the need to conserve these masks for frontline usage?

Lack of self-awareness and lack of humility sum up the whole audio

民心如水,水能载舟亦能覆舟。

Stop picking isolated comments like JadedFox. I think you can do better. DORSCON was already used in 2009. Were you still working in 2009? How can you not have heard of DORSCON? DSTA should know DOSCON better than anyone else. MHA should also know DORSCON, right?

I don't understand why it is so difficult to understand that the precious masks must be reserved for the frontliners. It's commonsense. That was so in SARS 2003 and H1H1 2009, and will again be so now.

What's the point of criticising CCS time and again? You want to bring down Singapore by shaming our leader, is it?

As far as I'm concerned, he is not my MP and he will still reappear in parliament again as he has a lot of supporters from the Hokkien peng group, unions, party and grassroots orgs.

So deal with his beng-ness and code-switched English and move on.
.zeit,

you mentioned in above, \"So deal with his beng-ness and code-switched English and move on\" ?

Read below

because

this is how some fellow Singaporeans feel about him

If our Founder Mr Lee Kuan Yew is still alive Today 2020, Mr Lee will NOT say such thing, because
Mr Lee is very careful with speech, when he was alive

the person below, should not mention nor drag in other country [places] such as HONG KONG, even if he want to scold Singaporeans ! Basic respect, for other country citizens

In primary school, during Chinese Civics lessons, \"hao gong min\", didn't lao shi Teacher teach All Primary 1 students to show respect to school teachers, to authority in school, to elders [including parents, grandparents] in your family ?

actually those 中华商会 reps/bosses/sme lady/male bosses dun lool like hokkien pie to me, thought they are educated enough in this era. I know some ITE kids working, speak reasonable EL, no need to mix & din mix unbearing dialects that maybe sounds too crude n blunt most time. No more hokkein soldiers la! even ITE is already moving to world class education status. its still v wrong choice verbal phrases , now all over in youtube ! some taiwanese (colleagues/frens) also laughed at our drama 🤷 :siao:
All of us play wear different hat and play didn't role in our life at any one moment. We are children to our parents, parents to our kids, spouse, colleagues, supervisor/manager or just workers to the big boss.
So, the question is, besides the use of Singlish, did he speak appropriately in that setting? What was he there as, a friend or a trusted leader? Was there a lack of respect when he made reference to another administration? Is it ok to give damning labels to the people he serves?

I remember 1 incident where a dep dir made a racially weighed comment, directed at one of my colleagues. I would have laughed if that we a private gathering of friends. But it was not...it was a management meeting...sibeh awkward!!

So by right, it shld not even exist at all.
If speaker knows more than intended ppl would be listening, he would have used a diff strategy w good manners and etc.

Strike me that if only we have our own code language, like japanese and koreans, we can speak more freely. When living in an english speaking country, i speak more mandarin w hubby openly in public, than in sg, when there is no other mandarin speaking ppl around. when we needed to discuss sensitive matters like finance plans, our views etc.

In sg, when we use English, half the world understands, cannot bother to verify, dont shoot me. When we use Mandarin, all chinese in the whole world understand.

Singlish is not all bad esp for more causal stuff, as long as kids become well versed in std english first.

Last night I happened to watch an interview between Lianhe Wanbao and SG 1st confirmed Covid-19 patient who was recently discharged from NCID.

Just bemused why both parties need to wear mask. 😂

actually, with today's technology, they could have filmed them separately and combine them digitally

tats true
BUT...but ..but maybe film seprately then digitised becomes not sincere interview leow ;没有真实感 feel :rotflmao:
