If pple found lying in the travel declaration, hope the authority would charge them

unless there is informant, almost impossible to detect. like earlier cases.

U mean the couple in River Valley charged for lying about their movements were bao toh by an informant? I thought it was CID who found out their lies by viewing CCTV footage.

agree with zeit. rather worrying too , these two days before 20/3 2359hrs with no SHN to them , so many can fly in to (who may be already ill but no fever) seek our medical services 😞 alreadyhave so many import cases 😞

For those arriving after 2359hrs -- I still find that SG is too \"laissez faire'', as compared to China, HK and Taiwan with regard to the new wave of returnees, some of whom could be imported cases.

https://www.stb.gov.sg/content/stb/en/home-pages/advisory-on-covid-19.html
. From 20 March 2020, 2359 hours, all travellers entering Singapore will be issued with a 14-day Stay Home Notice (SHN)2. They will be required to provide proof of the place where they will serve the 14-day SHN, for example a hotel booking covering the entire period, or a place of residence they or their family members own.

Why don't they just learn from China and Taiwan to partner with a few hotels to convert them into Quarantine Hotels? There are 3 in Taipei and another couple in New Taipei. Since a month ago, Taipei's Xiao Huang yellow cabbies have formed a team to send passengers from the airport to their Quarantine Hotels or homes if the overseas students, returnees or PRs have one. All travellers (locals inclusive) must pay for their own 14-day stay at these designated Quarantine Hotels as 3 meals will be delivered to their doorstep daily.

In China, my friend didn't even get to cross the aerobridge because they had removed it! The airport made all passengers walk down the stairs to board a fleet of chartered coaches waiting on the tarmac that took them direct to Quarantine Hotels designated by the municipal govt, or to a designated point that allows local residents to commute to their own home if they have one in that city.

By designating a few hotels i.e. limiting the passengers' choices, and by only allowing the arrived passengers to take only designated chartered buses or designated yellow cabs to their 14-day isolation place, the local authorities can confine their contact-tracing to only a small group of affected service providers, should any of them be tested positive within the fortnight or beyond.

In Singapore, we allow passengers to book any hotel located all over our island as they like. Therefore, imagine if someone tested positive had booked Conrad and another had booked Marriott, MOH would have to quarantine all those affected service staff in both hotel clusters and trace the different taxi operators, PHVs or even SBS bus and MRT the 2 guys had taken from the airport. The no of people to be placed under quarantine will increase exponentially. It's additional workload for CID.

Also, Singapore govt don't bar tourists from using our public transport like MRT, unlike China and Taiwan which had banned tourists from taking the HSR, and subway from the airport. It's easier to trace if you partner certain taxi operators or bus companies to do this.

HK started issuing electronic wristbands to tag those under home quarantine many weeks ago. It's a bit intrusive but at least they leverage smart technology to ease their job. My friends' kids from UK boarding school returning to HK must don those wearable wristbands, so that the authorities know if they had disappeared from their home.
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/18/hong-kong-uses-electronic-wristbands-to-enforce-coronavirus-quarantine.html

Taiwan has also 'intruded' into the privacy of those under quarantine, way before Singapore uses GPS, by sending people an SMS warning as soon as they moved an inch outside their home boundary/base station.

yah after reading Taiwan on their efforts n prep to keepnumber controlled -really v good n well planned.
China seemed to ramp up fast n strict too. I agree Under such no choice n hard times, there is nothing wrong to intrude privacy just to keep these quarantine people under watchful eagle eyes, we won’t know who will be socially irresponsible,
Really hope our G forgo some gdp , revenue etc n implement Stricter measures to control incoming leisure travellers
All we can do is really pray n hope Spore leniency will not get us into big trouble of brining high number of imports cases fr visitors. Really scary to think further :gloomy:

GB schools close today. Transport services resort to minimal services on Monday. Great Britain will hanker down to address Covid-19 (CV). Think we have been spooked by Italy; statisticians have extrapolated the hospital numbers from over there and reached the conclusion our NHS will be swamped - and not able to cope with the deluge. This is also part of a growing realisation across the West that Globalisation does not work for its purposes. Think the populace, certainly in light of nationalism and Brexit, feel it’s time for a reset, time to insource production and jobs back from Asia. These are turbulent times. Stay safe everyone!

I certainly hope SG MOM will not approve any new EP applications for any global foreign MNCs in Spore. This is what happens during economic crises that I’ve witnessed where Sporean were retrenched on pretext of performance & send and spread their executives to diff subsidies ard the world to cut their losses. We shld not be at foreign MNCs’ mercies if we can help it.

Indonesia will likely explode in numbers. Hope SG govt restrict their entry into SG until their situation well controlled.
