I’m not sure if I missed the point.

There’s so much resources we hv within small reddot SG. Some families prefer to hv their family members under same roof by choice. Some do not feel they want to hv family member out alone in hotel, so they still take precautions for distancing with careful hygiene practices & distancing - self lockdown at home. We’re not talking abt confirmed COVID right? If they’re tested positive or fall I’ll, then they shld get into hospital for appropriate treatment

My frd’s daughter coming back fr US & ano fr UK, but both chose to hv their beloved home. One hv a dementia mother, whom they’re indeed concern for but arrange with ano sister to care for his mum. I’m thankful enuf we hv sons & daughter’s back fr seriously widespread places. Hope they’re cleared after 14-days self-quarantine & life life as normal as possible with the rest of family members under one roof.
The tricky thing is the returned family member could be asymptomatic. While they have protected their own elderly family member by moving them to another household, the other family members who are still staying in the same household could have caught the virus and spread to others. Unless they also stay at home for 14 days.

now how? kids wear home made mask to school arh?

I wld expect if very serious, MOH will get authorities to raise DORSCON. There is a protocol. I expect them govt will close schools & get e-learning activated. I’m sure they’re working very hard to prepare for all the inevitable scenarios

A lot of Sch are not gear up for Long term e learning,
The resources only able to sustain few days
Imagine so many students log on at same time, need to stagger , Teachers must faster get materials up to upload.. sch still have a lot a lot to prep
Thru this lesson, our system need to learn like Taiwan leant fr SARS period. Step up our tech every where fr health care, Sch e learnings etc

I wonder how many SHN or LOA issued out fr 14 March n 20 March
Unluckily , a close colleague of mine got shn , the family went JB to visit parents then back on 15 March , my org being kiasu also make her LOA, & we have been contact with her till Friday at work. where by MOE gave notice on thurs.
I am not sure what HR will do, these people should consume on leave first right , then on no pay or Govt pay $100 daily which we heard about?..
This Is not v fair to us, who obediently cancel our plan to msIa , jb, Bintan trip
N such people cross cause way to eat, play , merry , meet ralatives, now can stay at home shake legs. Me n a few colleagues got to cover her duties.
Govt paying $100 out , isn’t this fr tax payer . My this colleague is a PR some more :(, I actually hinted her to stay put, let her hub visit parents can Leow, she n kids should stay in spore- not fair to us. Sigh! :nunchuk: she wa working in office last 4 days, so all of us also at risk !

I don't understand why those returned caught the virus?
At the departure, aren't they screened and checked before boarding the flight? If found clear to fly but the cabin has infected cases, then they might catch the virus upon arrival.
A friend told me that the possibility of catching the virus lies during the transit and on the plane itself. I can't say much cos I don't know whether certain information that she told me was in the news. Anyway, for those taking the plane, do take extra precautions like wearing N95 mask instead of surgical mask which offers better protection, DON'T TOUCH anything on the plane whenever possible and limit your movement. :censored: :censored:

            Indonesia

estimate that more than 500, 000 had contact with covid-19 virus suspects

That's the consequences when somebody so stubborn that they believe that praying to God will protect them and refused to admit there is any case so no need to test. Whoever this minister is, hope he can sleep well every night with 500,000 lives on his hands. :siao: :siao:

Friend’s kid also just returned from UK and was tested positive for Covid-19 virus. Should have more confirmed cases (to come) from these overseas returnees !!

Many of them still have siblings studying in our local schools (sec / JCs). 14 day LOA but still staying under the same roof, albeit in different bedrooms. Not sure if they will stick strictly to the MOH advisory to minimize contact with their family members.

Our govt quarantine facilities full to the max already? Else why not reduce the risk by asking the returnees to go to the Chalets for the time being?

when in one household I think really difficult to self isolate..

One young lady locked herself in her room & only get family members to leave food outside her room. After meal, she wld leave it back outside her room & family members wear disposal gloves to clean.[/quote]That was what I did when I had a bad cough after recovering from the flu while living with DS1 and his family temporarily. But it was my DIL who stayed in her room with her newborn baby. I would leave food outside her room after cooking and she would come out only when I was in my room. Yes, I wore mask in the house. 😓 😓

The Parents hv shifted themselves to daughter’s room, letting her use the master bedroom stocked with toilet papers, tissues, dozens of towels, feature-wall TV with WiFi access, etc. When receiving her fr airport, I’ve alr cautioned them to wear masks, handgloves and both wore longsleeves. The maid helped disinfect the family’s car, etc. Daughter hv her meals in the master berm she’s occupying now & spend her time there for next 2 weeks. Master bedroom has got a balcony she can occasionally sit & relax. Not sure if they’ve done any other arrangements for their son, who’ll be back fr NS training.

I empathize with any families with returning family members w/o symptoms or not diagnosed as yet, but they wld feel more comforting to hv them back home rather than stay in hotels somewhere, unless they’re alr diagnosed & need hospital treatment. I wldn’t want any of my kids to be left out cold on their own.

I don’t see a high possibility of other family members catching virus unless they’re careless with uncontrollable hugs/handshakes, not disinfecting items daughter had touched or fr luggage. Thereafter is only the meal trays? During that period of self-quarantine, if the returnee feels unwell, then check-in hospital, contact tracing, family members self-quarantine. At least it’s limited to one family rather whobuse own place & resources rather than undiagnosed as yet & still pinch on public resources so needed for those who most need them - elderly, diagnosed cases, etc. I’ve 2 frds and they’ve been busy doing extra careful preparations for their returning family members

My sec school kids' schools have always relied on online resources/ platforms (alongside pen+paper work); so, an additional home based learning that they have been doing this term (compared to previous terms) is some kind of a video lecture.

As for pri school, this term my mid-pri kid also sees a greater use of online platforms... BUT, SLS is currently under maintenance, so pri schools may wanna explore more options (Google classroom, Microsoft Teams...), bringing these online platforms closer to the lower/mid pri kids (some upper pri kids have long already been using online collaborative platforms). Perhaps the challenge begins from the availability/ accessibility of the gadgets, internet connectivity, computer literacy...

Seems DS’ sch teachers very pro-active had e-learning ready & can be loaded anytime with their student ID. They’ve been briefed. Not sure abt other schools. Granted, some learning will be abit challenging and can’t do thro tech learning esp lab work, grp projects, etc

My only concern is not every family wld hv WiFi available for their children to do e-learning or submit work for grading online. These children will be disadvantaged. During haze, I rmbr kids having to submit work online, etc. But this will not be a long-term thing, esp young children will get restless cooped up at home beyond 2 weeks. Adults will go ‘crazy’ if hv to be cooped up for more than a mth, some will probably hv depression set in.
